Mercedes-AMG is testing a new, unannounced high-performance model in extreme cold conditions near the Arctic Circle in Sweden. It is visually related to the CLE model and takes the concept several steps further with a far more uncompromising, extreme design. This AMG model will be the second entry in the exclusive Mythos range and is designed as a high-performance collector vehicle positioned as a bold statement rather than a mainstream model.
What kind of car is the new Mercedes-AMG?

Even though the car is fully camouflaged, it’s clear this is not a standard AMG model. The vehicle has an aggressive stance and is being pushed hard in snow and ice, standing out even under camouflage in harsh winter conditions. While the prototype shares visual similarities with the Mercedes-Benz CLE, this model is expected to be significantly more extreme in both appearance and positioning.
It is positioned as a statement performance car, not a mainstream model. Mercedes-AMG says it will feature a high-output drivetrain to match its aggressive look.
Part of the Mercedes-Benz Mythos Series

This mystery car will be the second model in Mercedes-Benz’s Mythos series. Mercedes Mythos Series is a collection of ultra-exclusive, limited-edition collector cars that are focused on bold design and extreme performance.
The first Mythos model was the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed. It was a radical, open-top, two-seater with no windscreen, designed purely for driving thrills. The upcoming model is expected to follow the same no-compromises philosophy, but with a different body style.

Why test the car in Sweden?

The frozen conditions of northern Sweden are ideal for cold-weather testing. It allows AMG engineers to check performance in extreme sub-zero temperatures and assess the reliability of mechanical and electronic systems. The conditions also help evaluate grip, stability and handling on snow and ice. This testing phase ensures the car performs consistently and safely, no matter the climate.
Other upcoming limited-edition Mercedes models
Mercedes-Benz G-Class Cabriolet is an upcoming legendary open-top G-Wagen, returning as a special edition after a 13-year hiatus. It is currently in active prototype testing, and its global debut is anticipated for mid-2026.
Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius stated that the new convertible “will be sold in almost every market around the world,” specifically hinting that all major G-Class hubs, including Australia, are in line for the model.
