Mercedes-Benz has brought a fresh plug-in hybrid option to its C-Class line-up for Australia with the introduction of the 2025 C350e. Available to order now, the electrified sedan is priced from $98,200 before on-road costs.

Previously, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class line offered a PHEV option as the C300e trim which got discontinued in 2021. Now, the brand’s hybrid tech has improved a lot as offered in the more expensive models of the range, like the high-performance AMG C63 (currently on sale). Now, the plug-in hybrid technology returns in a more accessible guise with the Mercedes-Benz C350e.

2025 C-Class pricing

The pricing for the Mercede-Benz C-Class lineup in Australia now looks like this:

ModelPrice (before on-road costs)
C200 Night Edition$86,900
C200$91,400
C200 MHEV$92,600
C300$96,900
C350e Plug-in Hybrid$98,200
AMG C43 Edition R 4MATIC$112,600
AMG C43 4MATIC$140,600
AMG C63 S E Performance 4MATIC+$190,900
AMG C63 S F1 Edition$202,800

Powertrain and performance

The Mercedes C350e PHEV sedan pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine (150kW/320Nm) with a 95kW/440Nm electric motor. Together, they generate a combined 230kW and 550Nm, delivering power to the rear wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Key performance and efficiency figures include:

  • 0–100km/h: 6.1 seconds
  • Battery capacity: 25.4kWh lithium-ion
  • Electric-only range (NEDC): 104km

The model features three levels of regenerative braking, including a mode that enables near one-pedal driving. Intelligent energy management is integrated with the navigation system, optimising battery usage by factoring in terrain, speed limits and traffic.

Charging options

The C350e comes standard with 11kW AC charging and includes both public and domestic charging cables. A 55kW DC fast-charging capability is offered as a $1,500 option, enabling a 0–80 per cent charge in approximately 20 minutes.

Features and equipment

The C350e benefits from a well-equipped standard specification that includes enhancements over the petrol C300:

Exclusive to the C350e:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Digital Light headlights with adaptive high-beam
  • Comfort Suspension with rear self-levelling
  • Burmester 3D surround sound system
  • Augmented reality satellite navigation
  • Driving Assistance Package Plus

Shared with the C300:

  • AMG Line interior and exterior styling
  • Panoramic sunroof and rear privacy glass
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 11.9-inch infotainment display
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Head-up display and ambient lighting
  • Wireless phone charging
  • Power-adjustable sports front seats with memory
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop/go
  • Blind-spot assist and lane-keeping assist
  • Semi-autonomous parking assist and surround-view camera

Rivals for the C350e

At just under $100,000, the Mercedes-Benz C350e offers more power and technology than its C300 petrol sibling, without a big premium for the benefits. It currently faces no direct rivals, with both the BMW 330e and Volvo S60 T8 no longer available in the Australian market. However, with the stricter emission norms and shrinking demand for EVs in the near future, more PHEV sedans could be coming to the market.
