Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated GLE Coupé, introducing a comprehensive set of upgrades spanning design, technology, powertrains and driver assistance systems. The latest iteration of the SUV-coupé aims to strengthen its position in the premium segment with a more expressive design, next-generation digital architecture and improved electrified performance.

More power and electrification take centre stage

The new GLE Coupé range features updated engines designed to deliver stronger performance and improved efficiency. While exact outputs vary by market, Mercedes-Benz claims sharper acceleration and a more responsive driving character across the lineup.

A plug-in hybrid variant remains a key highlight, offering over 100km of electric-only driving range, allowing many daily commutes to be completed without using the combustion engine. The powertrains are also engineered to meet upcoming emissions standards while maintaining the brand’s trademark refinement.

AI-powered MB.OS and next-gen MBUX interface

Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé

A major update comes in the form of the new MB.OS (Mercedes-Benz Operating System), a high-performance, AI-enabled architecture that controls all vehicle functions.

  • Supports over-the-air updates for continuous improvements
  • Integrates cloud connectivity via the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud
  • Processes data from up to 27 sensors including cameras, radar and ultrasonic systems

Inside, the MBUX Superscreen dominates the dashboard, combining three 12.3-inch displays under a single glass surface. The system is powered by an upgraded MBUX platform featuring:

  • AI-driven MBUX Virtual Assistant capable of natural conversations
  • Avatar-based interaction for a more personalised experience
  • Integrated entertainment, productivity apps and gaming

Navigation also sees improvements, combining Google Maps integration with augmented reality overlays and a head-up display that projects directions directly onto the road.

Enhanced driver assistance and safety systems

Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé

The GLE Coupé introduces a significantly upgraded driver assistance suite under the MB.DRIVE umbrella.

  • Up to 10 cameras, 5 radar sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors monitor surroundings
  • Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC included as standard in select markets
  • Advanced parking assist can autonomously park at speeds up to 5 km/h
  • Faster system response with improved environmental detection

These systems are supported by a new high-performance, water-cooled computing unit designed for future scalability.

Revised design with illuminated elements

Visually, the updated GLE Coupé adopts a more assertive stance with several key changes:

  • Larger grille with illuminated central star
  • New front apron with gloss black and chrome detailing
  • Updated headlamps featuring dual star signatures
  • Redesigned LED tail lamps with 3D star elements
  • New 20-inch AMG alloy wheels

The optional DIGITAL LIGHT system has also been upgraded, offering:

  • 40% larger illumination field
  • Up to 50% lower energy consumption
  • High beam range of up to 600 metres

Suspension tech improves ride and handling

The SUV-coupé continues to emphasise ride comfort and agility with its advanced suspension systems.

The E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL system adjusts each wheel individually, analysing road conditions 1,000 times per second. Combined with AIRMATIC air suspension, the system can:

  • Anticipate speed bumps using cloud-based data
  • Adjust damping in advance via Car-to-X communication
  • Deliver a “floating” ride effect over uneven surfaces

A shorter wheelbase compared to the standard GLE SUV and a more direct steering ratio further enhance agility.

Interior upgrades focus on luxury and comfort

Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé

Inside, the GLE Coupé receives subtle but meaningful updates:

  • New ARTICO leather dashboard with contrast stitching
  • Updated steering wheel with “rocker-and-roller” controls
  • Ambient lighting integrated into redesigned air vents
  • New trim options including open-pore wood and aluminium finishes

A large panoramic sunroof (over 1m²) is now standard, enhancing cabin openness.

Air quality is also improved via the ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL system, which uses a multi-stage filtration process to clean cabin air every 90 seconds.

Positioning and outlook

With this update, Mercedes-Benz is clearly positioning the GLE Coupé as a tech-forward luxury SUV-coupé, blending performance with digital sophistication. The addition of AI-driven systems, enhanced electrification and design tweaks ensures it remains competitive against rivals in the premium segment.

Further details on pricing and market-specific variants are expected to be announced closer to local
