Mercedes-Benz Australia has added two limited-edition E-Class variants to its local lineup, each taking a distinct approach to the executive sedan segment. The newly launched Mercedes-Benz E 300 AMG Night Edition and Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid Dark Carbon Edition bring blacked-out styling, upgraded equipment and a sharper road presence to the E-Class range.

The launch also highlights Mercedes-Benz Australia’s growing focus on limited-edition models. It also reinforces the clear distinction between the two nameplates, with Mercedes-Benz focusing on premium luxury vehicles, while AMG continues to push high-performance, motorsport-inspired engineering that consistently accounts for a significant share of local sales.

Mercedes-Benz E 300 AMG Night Edition

The E 300 AMG Night Edition takes the regular E-Class sedan and injects it with a more aggressive and sport-focused personality. It has blacked-out exterior detailing and darkened door sill trims that continue the theme inside the cabin.

Mercedes-Benz has fitted 21-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels and finished in black with a high-sheen surface for the first time on an E 300 model. The result is a more athletic-looking E-Class.

Smooth hybrid power and long-distance comfort

It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, which is paired with a mild-hybrid (MHEV) system and combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Unlike the E 53’s PHEV system, the mild-hybrid in the E 300 does not offer electric-only driving

Mercedes says the mild-hybrid system improves low-speed smoothness and efficiency, while the suspension tuning prioritises comfortable cruising, urban drivability, and long-distance refinement.

E 300 AMG Night Edition interior

Inside, it keeps the luxurious feel of the latest E-Class while adding unique edition touches. The key interior highlights include:

  • 14.4-inch central MBUX touchscreen
  • 12.3-inch passenger display
  • Special digital “Edition” graphics
  • Sport front seats with climate control and multiple adjustments
  • Extensive connectivity features
  • Comprehensive driver-assistance systems

The cabin continues to focus heavily on quietness, comfort and premium materials.

  • AMG carbon-fibre centre console
  • AMG-specific interior styling
  • Nappa leather AMG upholstery
  • AMG steering wheel buttons
  • AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather

The cabin is designed to deliver a strong motorsport-inspired atmosphere while still maintaining E-Class luxury refinement.

AMG performance meets plug-in hybrid (PHEV) power

The Mercedes-Benz E 53 Hybrid Dark Carbon Edition combines:

  • Plug-in hybrid performance
  • Carbon-fibre detailing
  • Blacked-out AMG styling
  • Supercar-level acceleration (0-100km/h in 3.8s)

It also comes loaded with AMG-specific hardware, including:

  • AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive (AWD)
  • AMG-tuned suspension and braking systems
  • AMG Ride Control suspension

What this means for Australian buyers

The Mercedes-Benz E 300 AMG Night Edition targets buyers wanting executive comfort with a sportier visual presence, while the AMG E 53 Hybrid Dark Carbon Edition is clearly aimed at performance-focused drivers wanting electrified AMG power without giving up luxury or everyday usability.

Both models also reflect a broader trend in the luxury segment: more blacked-out styling packages, electrified drivetrains, increased focus on technology-based interiors, and hybrid performance without sacrificing efficiency.

For Australian buyers, the arrival of these limited-run E-Class models adds even more choice to a highly competitive premium sedan market.
