MG Australia has announced price increases across the MG 4 electric hatchback range, set to take effect from July 1, 2025. The upcoming changes will see drive-away prices rise by up to $3000, depending on the variant. This pricing update comes ahead of a planned facelift for the MG 4, expected to arrive in early 2026.

Updated pricing (drive-away)

MG 4 XPower$55,990$55,990No change

These updated prices apply to Model Year 2025 (MY25) stock of the MG 4 electric vehicle. MG Australia has confirmed there are no specification differences between MY24 and MY25 vehicles, with the price adjustment reflecting broader market factors and preparation for the facelifted model.

Last chance to buy the MG 4 EV at current prices

Prospective buyers still have time to secure a new MG 4 electric car at current drive-away prices before the changes come into effect. MG Australia has stated that the current pricing will remain valid until June 30, 2025. From July 1 onwards, the new rates will be fixed and “will not be reduced further.” It remains unclear whether the remaining MY24 stock will also be subject to the revised pricing from next month.

MG 4 facelift coming in 2026

The price increase precedes a planned mid-cycle update for the MG 4 electric hatchback, which is due to arrive in Australian showrooms in early 2026. The facelifted model is expected to include a refreshed interior design and subtle exterior styling updates to enhance the EV’s appeal in Australia’s growing electric vehicle market.

Is the MG4 worth buying?

The MG4 is one of Australia’s best-value EVs, offering strong range, sharp dynamics, and a well-built interior at a competitive price. While software quirks (like finicky CarPlay and seatbelt enforcement) can be frustrating, its rear-wheel-drive agility, low running costs, and 7-year warranty make it a prudent choice. If you want an affordable, fun EV and can overlook minor bugs, the MG4 is a good option. Test drive it against rivals like the GWM Ora or Tesla Model 3.
