Nissan Australia has renewed its partnership with Dakar Rally champion Daniel Sanders for a fourth consecutive year, aligning the announcement with the arrival of the 2026 Navara PRO-4X.

Dakar performance reinforces brand alignment

The extension follows Sanders’ recent performance at the Dakar Rally, where he secured a top-five finish despite injury and punishing conditions. The result strengthens Nissan’s messaging around resilience and durability, qualities it aims to associate closely with its vehicles.

Navara positioned as work-ready, durable ute

Nissan is leveraging the partnership to highlight the Navara’s reputation as a robust, work-focused ute capable of handling both extreme off-road environments and everyday driving demands. The brand draws a parallel between Sanders’ endurance in competition and the expectations of Australian ute owners.

Sanders reflects real-world ownership values

Sanders described the collaboration as a natural fit, pointing to the Navara’s dependability in both racing and rural settings.

“Nissan builds vehicles that can handle the same conditions we face competing, as well as those on the farm. The Navara is tough, reliable and ready for anything,” he said.

Brand alignment emphasised by Nissan leadership

Nissan Oceania Managing Director Steve Milette said Sanders embodies the brand’s core values.

“He represents what Nissan stands for—hard work, resilience and determination. That’s the same mindset we see in Navara owners every day,” Milette said.

PRO-4X and Warrior concept showcased at event

As part of the renewed collaboration, Sanders recently took delivery of a new Navara PRO-4X, which was showcased at a community charity enduro event held at his family property. The event drew more than 300 riders and also featured the Navara PRO-4X Warrior Concept, offering a preview of potential future developments for the model line.

40 years of Navara in Australia

The 2026 Navara arrives in a milestone year, marking four decades of the nameplate in Australia. Over that time, the Navara has built a reputation for durability and versatility across a broad range of applications.

Focus on capability, tech and local tuning

The latest Navara range continues to emphasise off-road capability, supported by locally tuned suspension developed in partnership with Premcar. It also introduces updated safety systems, improved in-car technology and a more refined design.

Collaboration to drive future campaigns

Nissan said the extended partnership will feature in upcoming campaigns focused on real-world performance and reliability. As the collaboration enters its fourth year, both Sanders and the Navara are positioned as symbols of endurance, practicality and capability in demanding conditions.
