Nissan has pulled the covers off the Navara PRO-4X Warrior Concept, unveiling it alongside the all-new Navara D27 and offering an early preview of the direction for the next-generation Warrior. Developed with long-time engineering partner Premcar, the concept combines revised exterior design elements with upgraded off-road hardware and suggests the likely development path for the Australian-engineered Warrior program. Here are five key things to know:

Local Debut & Vision

The Warrior Concept marks the first official look at how the locally engineered Warrior package could evolve for the new D27 platform.

Revealed during the global debut of Nissan’s latest-generation ute, the concept takes the flagship Navara Pro-4X and layers on extensive functional enhancements, indicating what a future production-ready Warrior could look like.

Nissan says the concept demonstrates the design direction, capability targets, and engineering philosophy of the next evolution of the Warrior line-up.

Design Collaboration & Heritage

Premcar’s deep involvement in the Warrior program continues to shape its future. Since the first Navara N-Trek Warrior launched in 2019, more than 12,750 Warrior models have been remanufactured for Australian buyers, supported by extensive real-world testing across some of the country’s harshest regions.

Premcar CEO/Engineering Director Bernie Quinn says the new concept is the result of six years of owner feedback and local engineering insight:

“The Warrior program has been developed to address the needs identified among Australian ute buyers, including capability and durability. Customer feedback has played a role in shaping this concept.”

Quinn says the new D27 platform gives Premcar “A strong platform for further off-road capability development.”

Performance & off-road enhancements

The Warrior Concept introduces a full suite of mechanical enhancements aimed at improving performance and especially off the beaten track.

Key upgrades include:

  • Lifted suspension with lava-red coil springs and dampers
  • Wider track via aftermarket 17-inch wheels
  • 32.2-inch all-terrain tyres for greater clearance and traction
  • Suspension tuning refined for both loaded and unloaded driving

These changes are intended to improve stability, approach and departure angles, and ride control, all while maintaining on-road comfort for work and touring.

Practical upgrades

Premcar’s “form follows function” philosophy is evident throughout the Warrior Concept. Every visual change serves a real purpose, particularly in the protection suite.

The updates include:

  • Redesigned bullbar with body-coloured wings
  • Extended overriders to improve approach angles
  • Underbody bash plates finished in lava red
  • Lava red rear recovery points (paired with black front points)
  • Aftermarket driving lamps
  • 3,500kg-rated towbar
  • Integrated fender flare extensions and wing undercovers

These upgrades are designed to prepare the vehicle for activities such as country touring, remote-area work, and recreational off-roading.

Styling highlights

Visually, the concept leans into the Warrior theme through purposeful, recognisable design cues — with the signature lava red treatment acting as the unifying element across functional and stylistic upgrades.

Key styling highlights include:

  • PRO-4X fender flares with lava-red accents
  • ‘WARRIOR’ side decals with mountain graphics
  • Black sport bar with PRO-4X sail plane and Warrior branding
  • Tailgate assist, tub liner and Warrior-branded headrests
  • Unique tailgate emblem in black with lava-red outline

The result is a ute that not only looks tough, but features styling elements commonly associated with off-road-focused models.

Looking ahead: the Warrior’s future on the new D27 platform

Nissan Oceania Managing Director Andrew Humberstone says the Warrior program remains one of Nissan Australia’s standout achievements:

“It’s a proven example of what happens when global engineering meets deep local market knowledge. The new D27 platform opens the next chapter, and Premcar’s work on the platform will be detailed further at a later date.”

More details on the production version of the next-generation Warrior will be shared in 2026, ahead of the new Navara D27’s Australian launch in Q1 2026.
