Nissan Australia has issued a recall affecting more than 13,000 Qashqai vehicles. The move comes after a potential fuel leak risk was identified in the Nissan Qashqai SUV due to a small design flaw in models produced during a given period.
What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

The defect affects the fuel pipe in certain 2022–2024 Nissan Qashqai petrol-only models, not the e-hybrid variants, where it may rub against a support bracket and become damaged. If this happens, fuel could leak, potentially causing the vehicle to lose engine power while driving. The leaking fuel also poses a fire risk if it comes into contact with an ignition source. Because of this, the defect is considered serious, as it increases the risk of injury or death to occupants, other road users, and bystanders, as well as potential damage to property.
