Key highlights:
- Nissan Sentra Spec-V Concept delivers 224kW at the wheels
- GT-R Nismo brakes, Recaro seats and rear wing feature
- Widebody styling and side-exiting exhausts celebrate 35 years of SE-R
Nissan has transformed its latest Sentra sedan into a track-focused machine with 224kW power output, GT-R Nismo brakes, a widebody kit and side-exiting exhausts. Called the Sentra Spec-V Concept, the wild build celebrates 35 years since the original Sentra SE-R launched and pays tribute to the model’s enthusiast community.
Nissan has revealed the concept ahead of this year’s SEMA Show, giving the humble compact sedan a race-car makeover that goes far beyond cosmetic upgrades.
The base skeleton of the Spec-V Concept is the ninth-generation production Nissan Sentra, and Nissan built the Spec-V Concept using a Frankenstein mix of parts taken from past and present production cars.
Nissan Sentra Spec-V Concept: engine and performance

Nissan has heavily modified the Sentra’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine to deliver 224kW at the wheels. The engine upgrades include new connecting rods, new pistons, 550cc fuel injectors and a Garrett G25-550 turbocharger.
| Specification | Nissan Sentra Spec-V Concept |
|---|---|
| Engine | Turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four petrol |
| Turbocharger | Garrett G25-550 |
| Fuel injectors | 550cc |
| Output | 224kW |
| Transmission | Modified 6-speed manual |
| Differential | Helical limited-slip unit from Nismo Juke RS |
To handle the extra power, Nissan has also fitted a modified six-speed transmission and a helical limited-slip differential sourced from the Nismo Juke RS. The powertrain changes give the concept substantially more performance-focused hardware than a standard Sentra.
Nissan has upgraded the suspension with front shock absorbers featuring remote reservoirs, stiffer springs and new anti-roll bars, but the braking hardware takes things a step further. The Sentra Spec-V Concept uses the same brakes as the GT-R Nismo, a high-performance sports car producing more than 447kW.
| Brake component | Specification |
|---|---|
| Front calipers | 6-piston Brembo |
| Front discs | 390mm two-piece |
| Rear calipers | Four-piston |
| Rear discs | 380mm two-piece |
A 224kW sedan probably doesn’t need brakes designed for a 447kW-plus supercar, but Nissan has equipped the concept with substantial stopping power.

Widebody styling and side-exit exhausts

The Spec-V Concept looks nothing like a standard Sentra. Nissan has given it a widebody kit from Bomex, with flared wheel arches and a redesigned front bumper and grille that prominently displays the upgraded intercooler. Other exterior changes include:
- Custom bonnet: Cooling vents help manage engine heat
- GT-R Nismo rear wing: The concept borrows the same rear wing as Nissan’s high-performance coupe
- Side-exiting exhausts: Nissan has engineered custom exhaust outlets that exit through the sides
- Nismo wheels: 19-inch LM-RS1 forged alloy wheels
- Performance tyres: Advan Neova AD09 tyres, known for their grip
- Custom wrap: Red accents finish the exterior makeover
The combination of wider bodywork, exposed intercooler hardware, aggressive wheels and side pipes gives the Sentra a distinctly race-inspired appearance.
Nissan Sentra Spec-V Concept interior

Nissan has carried the performance theme into the cabin, fitting several components from the GT-R Nismo, and its interior features include:
- GT-R Nismo Recaro front seats
- A Nismo steering wheel
- A custom seatbelt harness bar
- Several custom black interior details
These additions reinforce the concept’s motorsport-inspired character, rather than leaving the performance upgrades confined to the engine and exterior.
Nissan celebrates 35 years of the Sentra SE-R
The Spec-V Concept serves as a tribute to the Sentra SE-R community, arriving 35 years after that model first launched. Nissan says its enthusiast community plays an important role in shaping the brand’s relationship with its customers.
“Nissan has always had passionate fans who aren’t shy about telling us what they love and what they’d like to see next, and we love that – a lot of us at Nissan are enthusiasts, too,” said Kim Less, Nissan Americas vice president of Aftersales and Customer Loyalty.
“These projects are a chance to have some fun with that shared passion, take inspiration from our fans and our own teams, and show what’s possible with cars like Sentra and Z.”
The Sentra Spec-V Concept will be shown ahead of this year’s SEMA Show, and Nissan has not announced whether the modifications will lead to a production model.
