The 2026 Nissan X-Trail is officially headed to Australia, featuring updated styling, new interior technology, and slight price increases across the range. The updated mid-size SUV will arrive in the first quarter of 2026 (January–March).

Prices for the updated range increase by around $1150, with the familiar ST, ST-L, Ti, and Ti-L grades continuing in both 2WD and AWD configurations. The e-Power hybrid continues for select grades, while the N-Trek trim disappears from the lineup.

Nissan Australia has ruled out both the Rock Creek off-road variant and the Nismo performance model for local sale, even though both trims are available in Japan.

2026 Nissan X-Trail pricing

VariantPrice (before on-road costs)
X-Trail 2WD$38,140
X-Trail ST-L 2WD$42,615
X-Trail ST AWD$41,140
X-Trail ST-L AWD$45,715
X-Trail Ti AWD$51,415
X-Trail Ti-L AWD$54,415
X-Trail ST-Le-POWER$48,915
X-Trail e-POWER$54,415
X-Trail T-Le-POWER$58,215

Styling and interior updates

Nissan says the 2026 update brings revised bumpers, a new grille design, and updated LED lighting front and rear, reflecting the brand’s latest styling direction. The facelift also adds new exterior colours and upgraded cabin materials, giving the SUV a more premium look and feel.

The cabin gains Nissan’s Connected Car Services (CCS 1.0), which lets drivers start the engine remotely, check vehicle status, and get maintenance updates through an app.

From the ST-L variant and above, drivers also gain a new Around View Monitor with a ‘Skeleton Hood’ transparent view and an improved Multi-View camera angle to help at intersections.

Full local specifications and colour options will be confirmed closer to launch.

Powertrain lineup unchanged

Engine options carry over from the current model:

  • 2.5L petrol four-cylinder (135kW/244Nm) with CVT automatic, available in 2WD or AWD.
  • e-Power AWD hybrid using a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine and dual electric motors for electric-style driving.

The hybrid range still begins from the ST-L e-Power AWD, priced at $48,915 before on-road costs, making it over $10,000 more than the entry-level petrol version.

Five- and seven-seat configurations return, though Nissan hasn’t confirmed whether more models will offer third-row seating. Currently, only petrol AWD versions can be had with seven seats locally.

Refreshed family SUV for Australia

The Nissan X-Trail remains a key model in Australia’s mid-size SUV segment, competing against vehicles such as the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Honda CR-V. Its continued sales presence is supported by a mix of hybrid and petrol options and a focus on family practicality.

With the 2026 facelift, Nissan Australia aims to keep the X-Trail appealing to modern buyers by adding connected-car features, updated styling, and improved cabin finishes, while maintaining a balance between everyday usability and premium comfort. Nissan says these updates should help the X-Trail stay competitive among Australia’s popular mid-size SUVs, with a focus on everyday usability and new tech.
