Porsche has recalled six units of the 2024-25 Taycan Turbo GT in Australia due to a manufacturing issue in the wiring harness under the front seats that could affect side seat airbag deployment.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is a high-performance all-electric luxury sports sedan. It is the most powerful series-production vehicle ever made by Porsche, producing up to 815kW of peak power.

What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

Some units of this all-electric luxury sports sedan have a manufacturing issue with the wiring harness located under the front seats. This wiring harness may not have been installed exactly as specified at the factory.

Over time, this can cause the harness to rub or become damaged, which may affect the deployment of the seat side airbags. If the vehicle is involved in an accident, the failed airbag deployment could increase the risk of serious injury or death.
