Range Rover has officially confirmed the arrival of the Range Rover Sport Electric, providing the first glimpse of its upcoming all-electric luxury performance SUV at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom.
Set to become the second fully electric model in the Range Rover line-up after the forthcoming Range Rover Electric, the new Range Rover Sport Electric is expected to bring a fresh level of performance to the luxury SUV segment while retaining the brand’s signature blend of refinement, capability and premium appeal.
While full specifications and pricing remain under wraps, the British luxury marque says the electric SUV will be the most dynamic and performance-focused Range Rover Sport ever produced.

Range Rover Sport Electric showcased at Goodwood Festival of Speed
The upcoming EV made its public debut during a private preview event held alongside the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, one of the world’s most prestigious automotive events. To demonstrate its capabilities, Range Rover put prototype versions of the Sport Electric through a series of dynamic driving challenges on the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
The demonstration drew inspiration from some of the Range Rover Sport’s most famous achievements, including its climb up the 999 steps to Heaven’s Gate in China and its ascent of a challenging hydroelectric dam spillway in Iceland. According to the company, the electric SUV has been engineered to deliver strong performance both on and off the road, while maintaining the composure and luxury expected from a Range Rover.

New electric powertrain promises enhanced performance
Although Range Rover has not yet disclosed battery capacity, driving range or power outputs, it has confirmed that the Sport Electric will benefit from a suite of new technologies designed specifically for its electric powertrain. The company says the model will offer increased power and torque compared with existing versions, supported by an advanced chassis setup and a specially developed sound profile aimed at enhancing driver engagement.
Range Rover claims the combination of instant electric torque, precise chassis tuning and its renowned all-terrain capability will create a driving experience that feels both distinctive and exciting. The SUV will also retain the familiar muscular styling that has defined the Range Rover Sport for two decades, ensuring it remains instantly recognisable despite its transition to fully electric propulsion.

Range Rover Sport Electric to complete the line-up
The arrival of the electric variant will complete the Range Rover Sport’s powertrain range, giving buyers a choice of fully electric, plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid V8 petrol, six-cylinder petrol and diesel options.
This move forms part of JLR’s broader electrification strategy, which will see every Range Rover model offered with electrified powertrains, while fully electric versions continue to roll out across the brand’s portfolio.
Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Range Rover, said electric power would add a new dimension to the model’s performance credentials.

What does this mean for Australia?
While Range Rover Australia has yet to announce local pricing or launch timing, the Range Rover Sport Electric is expected to play an important role in the growing luxury EV market.
The segment is becoming increasingly competitive, with premium electric SUVs such as the Porsche Macan Electric, BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, Audi Q8 e-tron and Lotus Eletre already available to Australian buyers.
Given the popularity of the Range Rover Sport among Australian luxury SUV customers, the fully electric version is likely to attract buyers looking for a combination of prestige, performance and zero tailpipe emissions without sacrificing off-road capability.
