Renault Australia has issued a safety recall for the Kangoo III, with 445 vehicles affected nationwide, following the discovery of a manufacturing issue involving the rear swing doors in the loading bay. The recall applies to Kangoo III models built between 2023 and 2025 and covers all variants sold locally.

According to the recall notice, some vehicles may be missing a protective cover on the rear swing door, leaving the door striker plate exposed. While the issue does not affect the vehicle’s mechanical operation, it may increase the risk of injury to occupants when entering or exiting the loading area.

What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

According to the official recall notice (REC-006535, campaign 0EUB), certain affected vehicles were built without the protective cover on the rear swing door in the loading bay.

As a result, the door striker plates may be left exposed to occupants. If an occupant is unaware of the uncovered striker, there is an increased risk of injury when entering or exiting the vehicle.

Which vehicles are affected?

  • Make: Renault
  • Model: Kangoo III
  • Variant: All variants
  • Model Years: 2023-2025
  • Total Affected Units in Australia: 445

A list of affected VINs has been published. Renault Kangoo III owners are encouraged to check if their vehicle is included in the recall.

What are the hazards?

Exposure to the uncovered rear door striker plate could increase the likelihood of injury to occupants using the loading bay, particularly when entering or exiting the vehicle without noticing the missing cover.

What should owners do now?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by RVDA Pty Ltd and advised to contact their nearest authorised Renault dealership.

Dealers will inspect the vehicle and fit the required components free of charge. Owners are encouraged to arrange the repair as soon as they are contacted to minimise any potential risk.
