Skoda’s 130th anniversary celebrations may be winding down, but the brand isn’t slowing its momentum in Australia, confirming a new Sportline variant of its Elroq electric SUV.
The Elroq Sportline will replace the commemorative 130 Years edition, which is due to bow out later this year. While a precise launch date hasn’t been locked in, the new variant is expected to arrive before the end of 2026.
Sportline is a familiar badge across Skoda’s global lineup, typically denoting a sportier aesthetic and subtle chassis enhancements rather than outright performance upgrades. In the Elroq range, it will take over as the flagship offering until the more performance-focused RS variant lands.
Familiar electric powertrain retained
Under the skin, the Elroq Sportline is expected to carry over the same drivetrain as the outgoing 130 Years model. That means a rear-mounted electric motor producing 210kW and 545Nm, powered by an 82kWh lithium-ion battery.
Driving range is estimated at around 529km on a single charge, while DC fast charging capability of up to 135kW should allow for relatively quick top-ups when plugged into compatible infrastructure.
Although no additional power upgrades are expected, Skoda has hinted at a more engaging driving experience thanks to chassis tweaks. The Sportline will feature a lowered ride height and ‘progressive’ steering, aimed at delivering sharper handling characteristics.
Blacked-out styling inside and out
The biggest changes for the Sportline are visual, with a darker, more aggressive design theme applied throughout.
On the exterior, gloss black accents replace chrome elements, including the side mirrors, window surrounds, roof rails, and Skoda badging. The blackout treatment also extends to the front spoiler and rear diffuser, giving the SUV a more purposeful stance.
Inside, the cabin continues the theme with black ‘Suedia’ and leatherette upholstery, complemented by sportier front seats. A three-spoke steering wheel and aluminium pedal covers further emphasise the variant’s dynamic intent.
Skoda Elroq performance & specs
Powering the Skoda Elroq in its current flagship form is a single rear-mounted electric motor, delivering strong outputs for a mid-size electric SUV. The setup delivers 210kW and 545 Nm, driving the rear wheels for a more engaging on-road feel compared to front-drive rivals.
Energy is supplied by an 82kWh lithium-ion battery, which enables a claimed driving range of up to 529km on the WLTP cycle. This places the Elroq among the more competitive options in its segment for outright range
| Specifications | Skoda Elroq |
| Battery Capacity | 82kWh |
| Power | 210kW |
| Torque | 545Nm |
| Drivetrain | RWD |
| Acceleration (0-100km/h) | 6.6 seconds |
| Range (WLTP) | 529km |
| DC fast charging | Up to 135kW |
While not positioned as a high-performance EV, the Elroq balances efficiency, usable range, and respectable acceleration, with sharper handling expected in variants like the upcoming Sportline thanks to chassis and steering tweaks.
Expected pricing and lineup positioning
Official pricing and full specifications are yet to be confirmed, but the Elroq Sportline is expected to land somewhere between $65,000 and $70,000 drive-away. That would position it closely to the outgoing 130-year edition, if not slightly below it.
The Sportline will serve as a bridge between the standard Elroq variants and the upcoming high-performance RS model, which remains on track for a mid-year debut.
Skoda’s expanding EV push in Australia
Confirmation of the Elroq Sportline comes amid a broader product push from Skoda in Australia.
Throughout 2026, the brand has rolled out updates across key model lines, including the Elroq, Enyaq, Octavia, Kodiaq, and Superb, introducing new powertrains and trim levels to refresh its showroom lineup.
Looking ahead, Skoda is set to further expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the arrival of the Elroq RS and Enyaq RS performance variants, followed by two new electric SUVs – the Epiq and Peaq, which are expected to arrive as early as 2027.
As Skoda continues to expand its EV presence, the Elroq Sportline appears poised to play a key role in sustaining momentum, offering buyers a sportier take on its growing electric SUV lineup.
