Skoda is gearing up for the launch of its first plug-in hybrid model in Australia, confirming the new Kodiaq Select PHEV will arrive in the first quarter of 2026, priced at $63,490 before on-road costs.

Slotting between the petrol-powered Sportline and RS grades in the lineup, the electrified Select is priced around $6000 lower than initial indicative expectations, positioning it directly against the popular Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV while remaining far more affordable than the related Cupra Terramar VZe.

Performance and efficiency

Skoda claims efficiency and everyday usability from its first Australian plug-in hybrid, pairing petrol power with EV driving capability for the segment.

Features and interior

Due to battery packaging requirements, the Kodiaq PHEV is front-wheel drive only and offers five seats, unlike the petrol variant’s seven-seat configuration.

Standard features largely mirror the Kodiaq Select petrol, including:

  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Heated, power-folding mirrors
  • Heated, power-adjustable front seats
  • Tri-zone climate control
  • Twin wireless phone charging pads
  • 13.0-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • Adaptive cruise control, lane-centring, and traffic sign recognition

Buyers can add the Signature Package for $6500, which includes massaging front seats, intelligent park assist, a head-up display, and a surround-view camera system.

More hybrid models on the way

Skoda’s electrification push won’t stop here. A fleet-focused mild-hybrid version of the Kodiaq Select is due in the second quarter of 2026, adding to the lineup further at the entry end of the market. The brand will also introduce the Superb PHEV in 2026, launching first as a wagon early in the year before the liftback follows later.

With a sharp price and standout EV-only driving range, the Kodiaq PHEV is positioned squarely against the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, as Skoda supports the brand’s move toward more electrified family SUVs.

Expanding Skoda’s electrified roadmap

The Kodiaq PHEV becomes the fourth variant in the second-generation large SUV range, joining the existing Select, Sportline, and RS petrol models, while also complementing the fully electric Enyaq. It marks a part of Skoda’s strategy to offer a wider range of lower-emission options in the competitive SUV segment.
