Toyota Australia has issued a recall affecting more than 11,000 LandCruiser 300 vehicles. The recall follows the identification of a transmission control module (TCM) programming issue in certain 2025 models.

Affected variants

  • Toyota LandCruiser Wagon GR-S
  • Toyota LandCruiser Wagon GX
  • Toyota LandCruiser Wagon GXL
  • Toyota LandCruiser Wagon VX
  • Toyota LandCruiser Wagon Sahara
  • Toyota LandCruiser Wagon Sahara ZX

All vehicles fall within the 2025 model year.

What’s the defect, and why is it serious?

Toyota LC

The defect relates to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) software calibration in affected vehicles. Due to incorrect programming, the transmission may rev higher than intended.

This can result in:

  • Loss of motive power while driving
  • Transmission fluid leakage

If leaking transmission fluid comes into contact with an ignition source, it could lead to a vehicle fire.

Because of this, the issue is classified as serious, as it increases the risk of injury or death to occupants, other road users, and bystanders, along with potential property damage.
