The Toyota Tundra range is expanding in Australia, with a second model confirmed for local launch. The 2025 Tundra Platinum will join the existing Limited variant in May 2025, priced from $172,990 before on-road costs. That makes it the most expensive new Toyota ever sold in Australia.

The new variant arrives as Toyota looks to strengthen its presence in the US-style full-size pick-up segment, which includes rivals like the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ram 1500.

2025 Toyota Tundra Pricing (excl. on-road costs):

Same Hybrid Power

Like the Tundra Limited, the Platinum uses Toyota’s i-Force Max hybrid powertrain – a 3.4-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 paired with an electric motor, delivering 326kW and 790Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range four-wheel-drive system.

Towing capacity remains unchanged at 4500kg (braked), with both towing modes and trailer-specific features also carried over from the Limited.

Exterior Highlights

The Tundra Platinum trim stands out with more upmarket styling touches. A chrome mesh front grille, chrome door trims, and black exterior elements – including 20-inch alloy wheels, tailgate handles, and window surrounds – give the Tundra a more refined look.

It’s offered in most of the same colours as the Tundra Limited, though Glacier White and Espresso Brown are not available on the new grade.

Interior and Tech Upgrades

Inside, the Toyota Tundra Platinum swaps synthetic leather for a more premium black and blue partial leather trim. Front seats now offer massage functionality and four-way power lumbar support, with the passenger seat gaining 10-way electrical adjustment.

Rear outboard seats are heated and ventilated, and a panoramic sunroof is standard. Satin chrome interior highlights, ambient cabin lighting, and Platinum branding across the dash help elevate the interior.

Technology features include a heated leather steering wheel with memory tilt and reach adjustability, a 10.9-inch head-up display, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The large 14.0-inch centre touchscreen remains, paired with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a 12-speaker JBL sound system.

Strong Safety Coverage

As with the Tundra Limited grade, the Tundra Platinum comes equipped with a full suite of safety features. These include:

  • Autonomous emergency braking
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Adaptive cruise control with lane tracing
  • Eight airbags
  • Panoramic view monitor
  • Parking support brake
  • Rear view camera with guide lines

Additional features like LED bed lighting and rain-sensing wipers are exclusive to the new Toyota Tundra Platinum.

Local Conversion and Availability

Both Toyota Tundra grades are converted to right-hand drive locally in Melbourne through Toyota’s partnership with Walkinshaw Automotive Group, under a factory-backed reengineering program.

The Toyota Tundra Platinum will be available in Australian showrooms from May 2025, with further local details expected soon.
