As part of regular updates for the brand’s lineup, the Toyota Yaris and Toyota Yaris Cross have been given a meaningful refresh for 2025. These popular compact models now get smarter safety tech, eco-friendlier climate systems, and thoughtful new features across the range.

2025 Yaris safety updates
Every variant of the Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross now benefits from the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), which emits sound when hybrid models operate in near-silent electric mode, helping to warn nearby pedestrians.
The Yaris Ascent Sport and Yaris Cross GX now come with a Parking Support Brake, which automatically applies the brakes when reversing if a person, car, or obstacle is detected.
The Yaris Cross GX also adds a Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist, a feature usually reserved for higher-end models. This feature alerts the driver to approaching traffic and helps prevent doors from opening into passing vehicles or cyclists.
Environmentally friendly upgrades
Toyota is also switching the air-conditioning refrigerant across all Yaris and Yaris Cross grades to R1234yf. Compared to older systems, it offers significantly lower global warming potential—another step in Toyota’s broader push toward sustainability.
