Volkswagen has announced an updated Amarok line-up for Model Year 2026, bringing new special editions, a simplified model range and a stronger focus on V6 engine power. The update sees four-cylinder diesel versions dropped from the line-up.

According to Volkswagen, the changes were guided by feedback from Amarok owners, dealers and enthusiasts, as the brand continues to refine the ute after more than 15 years on sale.

Deliveries for the core MY26 Amarok range & Dark Label Edition are expected to begin in May, while the Amarok W600 is confirmed to arrive in the third quarter of 2026.

Four-cylinder diesel models discontinued

For 2026, Volkswagen has removed the four-cylinder diesel Amarok variants. With those variants gone, the range now mainly focuses on V6 diesel power.

Most of the MY26 Amarok range will now be powered by the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6, known as the TDI600. But the TSI452, a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, remains.

All versions continue with dual-cab 4×4 layouts and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

“The MY26 Amarok is focused for the fans: V6 confidence, clearer choice and two standout hero editions in Dark Label and Walkinshaw. This is Amarok at its most desirable,” said Nathan Johnson, Brand Director, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

For 2026, Volkswagen has simplified the Amarok range to make choosing a model easier. The update includes a stronger focus on V6 variants, clearer differences between grades, and fewer complicated option packages.

Volkswagen is also introducing 2 special editions at the top of the range: Amarok Dark Label V6 and Amarok W600. Both are halo models for the MY26 line-up. Pricing, further details, and official launch timing of these variants will be announced closer to release.

Amarok W600 developed with Walkinshaw

Another special edition, the Amarok W600, is developed in partnership with Walkinshaw Automotive Group. This locally developed performance version will sit at the top of the range.

Volkswagen has also updated the Amarok Style TSI452 petrol model, which replaces the previous Aventura TSI452. The refreshed trim’s key upgrades include:

  • 4A permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive
  • Six selectable drive modes
  • Optional 20-inch ‘Bendigo’ alloy wheels

There is also an optional Bendigo wheel package that costs $1,290 and aims to provide a stronger, more muscular stance and driving dynamics that better match the petrol engine’s performance character.

Focused on what Amarok buyers want

Volkswagen says the MY26 update reflects what Australian Amarok buyers consistently choose. The revised range is designed to be more focused, more distinctive, and better aligned with customer demand.

The new Dark Label and W600 editions are intended to anchor the line-up and give the Amarok range stronger flagship models.
