Chinese EV maker Xpeng has released official images of its upcoming flagship SUV on its official X account. It is offering the first clear look at the full-size Xpeng GX ahead of any formal launch in catalogues or shows. The post, shared via the XPENG Motors profile on X earlier today, accompanies the automaker’s positioning of the GX as a premium six-seat model built on its latest technology platform.

Visual debut ahead of MIIT listing

The X post comprises high-resolution exterior shots that confirm much of what earlier Chinese reporting suggested, a substantial SUV with Range Rover-type proportions, a minimalist front end, and a roofline that reads more upright and traditional than many contemporary Chinese crossovers.

This strategic release on social media precedes the usual pattern of official catalog publication by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), where final specifications and dimensions are typically disclosed shortly before domestic launch. Analysts expect the MIIT submission to arrive imminently.

Design language and segment context

The Xpeng GX’s design, long wheelbase, broad shoulders and a visual emphasis on vertical surfaces, closely recalls the design language of established luxury large SUVs. Split tailgate lines and a full-width rear light bar are among the notable exterior cues visible in the X images.

Xpeng’s choice to share the images on its social platform likely reflects an intent to build early buzz and direct engagement with potential buyers and media, rather than letting lower-quality MIIT catalog visuals be the first public exposure.

Powertrain and technology platform

Xpeng GX

While the social media post itself does not disclose technical specifications, the Xpeng GX is understood to be powered by Xpeng’s extended-range electric (EREV) architecture, pairing a large battery pack with a small internal combustion generator to maximise total range. Prior coverage suggests the system will be capable of class-leading range figures, supported by fast-charge capability and the new Xpeng Kunpeng Super Electric System.

Inside, early imagery hints at a tech-centric cabin with an augmented reality head-up display and a six-seat configuration, aligning the Xpeng GX with high-end competitors that emphasise both comfort and advanced interface design.

Segment positioning and outlook

The Xpeng GX is targeted squarely at the upper end of China’s SUV market, where rivals such as the Li Auto L9, Aito M9 and Zeekr 9X also compete. Pricing in China is expected to start above 400,000 yuan.

A global debut, potentially at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026, remains likely, with further specifications and regional intentions set to be clarified closer to the Xpeng GX’s domestic launch.
