Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled certain S-Class and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedans from the 2022–2024 model years over a braking defect that could reduce braking performance and increase the risk of an accident.
The recall covers seventh-generation models, including several S-Class and Maybach variants sold in Australia during this period.
What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

A manufacturing defect may cause the front axle brake hoses to become damaged over time, and if the hoses deteriorate, they could develop a brake fluid leak, resulting in reduced braking performance.
A reduction in braking performance could eventually affect the vehicle’s ability to slow down as intended, which increases the risk of an accident, potentially causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
