LDV has officially debuted the Australia-spec Terron 9 – its all-new dual-cab ute. It’s ready to shake up the ute segment with its larger dimensions, stronger performance, and a longer feature list compared to the older LDV T60. While it’ll live alongside the older LDV T60 in the company’s local lineup, the new Terron 9 clearly marks a new chapter for the brand.

There is a notable premium for the new LDV ute over the older model. With prices starting from $50,990 drive-away for ABN holders – or $53,674 for private buyers – the Terron 9 sits well above the T60 it joins in showrooms. However, it’s still priced below mainstream favourites like the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger.

Pricing breakdown

The LDV Terron 9 will be offered in two trims, priced as follows:

VariantABN Price (Drive-Away)Private Price (Drive-Away)
Origin$50,990$53,674
Evolve$55,990$58,937

As part of a limited-time launch offer, ABN holders can get:

  • Origin for $49,990 drive-away
  • Evolve for $54,990 drive-away

Powertrain details

There is only one powertrain for the LDV Terron 9 at launch – a 2.5-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel, outputting 163kW and 520Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive with auto mode.

That’s a bump up from the T60’s 2.0-litre twin-turbo engine (160kW/500Nm), although the Terron 9 is also about 300kg heavier, depending on the variant.

Payload and towing

LDV hasn’t just focused on comfort and looks – the Terron 9 is a proper workhorse. It boasts:

  • 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity (segment standard)
  • Payload capacity of up to 1100kg (Origin) and 1005kg (Evolve)
  • Maximum towball download rated at 350kg

Dimensions: A class-leading footprint

The LDV Terron 9 stretches the tape at:

  • Length: 5500mm
  • Width: 1997mm (body) / 2265mm (mirrors extended)
  • Height: 1874mm
  • Wheelbase: 3300mm

It’s longer, wider, and taller than both the T60 and many class rivals – save for the T60 Mega Tub, which still holds the length crown at 5710mm. Ground clearance is 220mm unladen, with a turning circle of 13.3 metres.

The tub itself is more practical, too:

  • Box length: 1600mm
  • Box width: 1600mm
  • Width between wheel arches: 1230mm

What’s next for LDV utes?

  • A fully electric Terron 9 is in development, although pricing and availability remain undisclosed.
  • LDV says the initial Terron 9 stock has already arrived in Australia, with the first deliveries expected in July 2025. However, supply will be limited at launch before production scales up in the months ahead.
  • Later this year, a twin model called the MG U9, will also be added to the Aussie ute market.

Competitors: How does it stack up?

While the LDV Terron 9 is pricier than the LDV T60 (from $38,990 drive-away), it undercuts top-selling rivals:

  • Toyota HiLux SR 4×4 dual-cab auto – around $60,667 drive-away
  • Ford Ranger XL 4×4 dual-cab single-turbo auto – around $57,562 drive-away

Its closest rival in size and concept is the GWM Cannon Alpha, which starts from $49,990 drive-away with an ABN.

Final thoughts

With the Terron 9, LDV has taken a bold step into the premium ute space – offering size, tech, and towing muscle in a package that undercuts the big names without skimping on features.
