Subaru Australia has unveiled the all-new 2026 Subaru Uncharted, a compact electric SUV that will become the brand’s most affordable EV when it arrives locally in mid-2026.
Priced from $59,990 before on-road costs, the Uncharted joins the updated Solterra and new Trailseeker as part of Subaru’s expanding Sport Electric Vehicle (SEV) lineup. The launch announcement also coincides with Subaru cutting prices across the Solterra and Trailseeker range by up to $4,000 as competition in Australia’s EV market intensifies.

Subaru positions Uncharted as a sporty EV SUV
Unlike many compact electric SUVs that prioritise comfort and efficiency, Subaru says the Uncharted has been engineered to deliver a more engaging driving experience. The company claims the SUV blends the performance character of the WRX and BRZ with the all-weather capability traditionally associated with Subaru’s SUV lineup.
Power comes from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric powertrain producing 252kW, with Subaru claiming a 0-100km/h sprint time of approximately five seconds. A 74.7kWh CATL lithium-ion battery sits low within the chassis to improve handling balance and lower the center of gravity.
Driving range and charging details

Subaru quotes a preliminary WLTP driving range of up to 522km for the Uncharted AWD. Charging capability includes:
- Up to 150kW DC fast charging
- 10 to 80 per cent charging in around 30 minutes
- 22kW AC charging support
Subaru says the EV is compatible with Australia’s major fast-charging infrastructure and features a thermal management system designed to maintain battery performance during sustained driving and varying weather conditions.
Subaru retains off-road focus
Despite adopting a more coupe-inspired fastback silhouette, Subaru says the Uncharted maintains the off-road capability expected from the brand. The electric SUV includes:
- Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
- Dual-mode X-Mode
- Grip Control
- Downhill Assist Control
- Multi-Terrain Monitor
Ground clearance is rated at 211mm, which is higher than many rival compact electric SUVs currently on sale in Australia.
Cabin tech and features

Inside, the Subaru Uncharted features a large 14-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with a 7-inch digital driver display. Standard equipment includes:
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Dual wireless phone chargers
- Heated front and rear outboard seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Synthetic leather upholstery
- 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system
- Digital rear-view mirror
- Panoramic 360-degree camera system
- Powered tailgate
- 20-inch alloy wheels
Subaru has also retained physical shortcut controls within the cabin rather than shifting all functions into the touchscreen interface.
Safety systems included as standard
The Uncharted comes equipped with Subaru’s latest-generation Safety Sense and Vision Assist technologies. Safety and driver-assistance features include:
- Blind Spot Monitor
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Adaptive Driving Beam
- Front and rear parking sensors
- Safe Exit Assist
- Emergency Driving Stop System
- Driver Monitoring System
Subaru says the Driver Monitoring System can monitor driver attention and fatigue levels in real time.
Positioned above mainstream compact EV rivals

While the Subaru Uncharted becomes Subaru’s least expensive EV locally, it still enters the market at the higher end of the compact electric SUV segment. Key rivals are expected to include the Kia EV3, BYD Atto 3 and Tesla Model Y.
The Subaru Uncharted is also understood to be closely related to the upcoming Toyota C-HR+, sharing underlying EV architecture and technology.
Single variant available at launch
Subaru Australia will initially offer the Uncharted in a single high-spec AWD variant.

Subaru expands EV lineup amid growing competition

The Subaru Uncharted arrives as Subaru continues expanding its EV range in Australia while brands across the market adjust pricing and positioning in response to increasing EV competition. Earlier this week, Subaru reduced pricing across its Solterra and Trailseeker lineup by up to $4,000, bringing both models closer into line with equivalent Toyota EV counterparts.
Subaru Australia General Manager Scott Lawrence described the Uncharted as a vehicle that combines SUV practicality with the character of a performance car. “It carries the ground clearance of an SUV but the soul of a performance car,” Lawrence said.
Pre-orders for the Uncharted are now open ahead of first Australian customer deliveries scheduled for mid-2026.
