Tesla has announced Australian pricing for the 2026 Model Y Performance, which will be sourced from the company’s Berlin factory rather than China. Orders are now open, with first deliveries expected in December 2025.

Pricing and positioning

The 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance is priced from $89,400 before on-road costs. It is $6500 more expensive than when the pre-facelift Performance that was last available in early 2025, but still lower than the 2022 launch price of $100,235 before on-road costs.

German-built for Australia

The Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range variants of the Tesla Model Y SUV sold in Australia are sourced from China, but the new Performance trim will be built at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Berlin.

German imports are subject to a 5 per cent tariff, unlike Chinese-built Teslas, which are tariff-free under the Australia–China Free Trade Agreement.

The updated Model Y Performance adopts a new rear drive unit shared with the Model 3 Performance. Tesla claims a 0–100km/h time of 3.5 seconds, down from 3.7 seconds, with an unchanged top speed of 250km/h.

Adaptive suspension is standard, offering Standard, Sport and Track modes. The SUV also features wider rear tyres, Pirelli performance rubber, and configurable Stability Assist settings with Standard, Reduced and Off modes.

Design and equipment changes

Exterior updates distinguish the Performance from standard Model Y variants, including:

  • 21-inch ‘Arachnid 2.0’ alloy wheels with aero covers
  • Redesigned front bumper with air ducts and lower splitter
  • Revised rear bumper with aero inserts
  • Black mirror caps and lip spoiler

Inside, it gains front sports seats with extendable under-thigh cushions, carbon-fibre-look dashboard trim, and ‘Ludicrous’ logos on the headrests.

A new 16-inch central touchscreen is fitted, alongside an 8.0-inch rear screen, with the existing 15.4-inch display retained in lower trims.

Glacier Blue is not offered for the Performance variant.

Availability

The 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance All-Wheel Drive is now available for order in Australia, with customer deliveries scheduled to commence in December 2025.
