Bentley has teased its first EV again, and the British luxury marque is making some huge claims – the upcoming Torcal EV will be Bentley’s most powerful production car ever and its fastest-accelerating model from a standstill.
Bentley calls it the world’s first luxury urban SUV, and it’s a smaller, sub-5m, two-row luxury SUV which will sit below the petrol-powered Bentayga SUV.
The Torcal EV is highly likely to come to Australia, and its order books will likely open shortly after its global reveal on September 23, 2026.
Bentley targets around 600kW and 3.0 seconds
Bentley says the Torcal EV will be its most powerful production car yet and the fastest Bentley ever from a standstill, with roughly 600kW of peak power and a 0–100km/h time of around 3.0 seconds.
For context, the plug-in hybrid Continental GT Speed currently produces 575kW and 1000Nm, reaching 100km/h from rest in 3.2 seconds.

Bentley says it has not simply chased acceleration figures, either. The company maintains that the Torcal EV has been engineered to keep its performance within the limits of comfort and meet the requirements of Bentley customers.

Porsche Cayenne Electric could provide the hardware
The Torcal is expected to share its platform and electrical architecture with the Porsche Cayenne Electric.
The flagship Cayenne Turbo Electric produces 630kW from its dual-motor electric powertrain, and its Overboost function lifts that figure to a massive 850kW and 1500Nm.
The SUV can accelerate from 0–100km/h in just 2.5 seconds, and that puts the Cayenne Turbo Electric on par with the 911 Turbo S supercar.
Bentley has not confirmed the Torcal’s final power or acceleration figures, but its own performance claims suggest it will sit firmly in this territory.
Bentley keeps the bespoke touch
Performance will grab the headlines, but Bentley also wants the Torcal to retain the handcrafted character associated with the brand.
The Bentley Diamond motif will continue, including a floating diamond grille on the exterior, and the teaser images suggest the grille could also feature illumination.
Inside, Bentley will combine digital displays with real handcrafted materials.
The displays will use projections of light passing through real hand-cut crystal glass, created with Cumbria Crystal in England’s Lake District.
Bentley says its design team chose handcrafted materials rather than relying solely on computer-generated graphics for the Torcal’s digital displays.
The company says the natural variations and imperfections of hand craftsmanship add warmth and humanity to an otherwise highly modern digital experience.
The Torcal will also offer a new Ombre Veneer and the world’s first Merino wool cabin material.
Bentley’s Mulliner coachbuilding division has also developed the Sunburst Aluminium trim insert, which reinterprets the engine-turned aluminium dashboards that appeared in Bentley models of the past.
