Key highlights:
- New GWM Haval H7 starts at $45,990 drive-away on promotion
- PHEV delivers 320kW, 670Nm and 137km of electric-only range
- 7-seat H7 variants are confirmed for Australia in 2027
The new-generation GWM Haval H7 is gearing up to take on the Toyota RAV4, with dealer pricing revealing a promotional starting price of $45,990 drive-away. The new SUV will offer hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, standard all-wheel drive and two equipment grades.
GWM Australia has yet to officially confirm the prices, but customer vehicles have started arriving at dealerships ahead of the November 2, 2026 launch.

H7 targets the Toyota RAV4 on price
The entry-level H7 Lux HEV’s promotional price puts it in direct competition with Australia’s cheapest Toyota RAV4 hybrid. The H7 Lux HEV has an official starting price of $46,990 drive-away, dropping to $45,990 during the introductory offer. Toyota’s entry-level RAV4 GX 2WD hybrid starts at $45,990 before on-road costs.
The H7 PHEV also undercuts several plug-in hybrid rivals on their listed starting prices.
| Model | Starting price |
|---|---|
| GWM Haval H7 Lux AWD PHEV (promotional) | $49,990 drive-away |
| Toyota RAV4 XSE 2WD PHEV | $58,840 before on-road costs |
| Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV ES AWD | $58,990 before on-road costs |
The H7 Lux PHEV normally starts at $50,990 drive-away, but GWM’s $1000 offer reduces that to $49,990 until November 30, 2026. Keep in mind that the prices aren’t directly equivalent: GWM quotes drive-away prices, while Toyota and Mitsubishi quote prices before on-road costs.
Hybrid vs PHEV: Powertrain specifications
Both versions use the same 110kW 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, but their combined outputs, batteries and performance figures differ significantly.
| Specification | 2027 GWM H7 HEV | 2027 H7 PHEV |
|---|---|---|
| Petrol engine | 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder | 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder |
| Engine output | 110kW | 110kW |
| System output | 182kW / 670Nm | 320kW / 670Nm |
| Battery | 1.53kWh LFP | 33.7kWh ternary lithium |
| Fuel consumption | 7.0L/100km | Not specified |
| EV range | Not specified | 137km |
| Combined range | Not specified | 844km (WLTC) |
| 0–100km/h | 7.0 seconds | 4.9 seconds |
The conventional hybrid combines its petrol engine with a small 1.53kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, and GWM claims combined fuel consumption of 7.0L/100km.
The PHEV uses a much larger 33.7kWh ternary lithium battery and delivers 320kW of combined power, and its claimed electric-only range reaches 137km.
That extra performance also makes the PHEV considerably quicker, as GWM quotes a 0–100km/h time of 4.9 seconds, compared with 7.0 seconds for the HEV.

2027 GWM Haval H7: Australian pricing
The second-generation H7 replaces the outgoing front-wheel-drive model with a broader range, and GWM revealed the new SUV earlier in 2026, promising a starting price below $50,000.
Although the company hasn’t officially confirmed the dealer pricing, it told CarExpert Australia that the new H7 had started arriving at dealerships for test drives, with competitive pricing across the hybrid and PHEV range due to be announced shortly.
Dealers have opened order books, and an official pricing announcement is imminent.
| 2027 GWM Haval H7 variant | Promotional drive-away price | Price after promotion |
|---|---|---|
| Lux AWD HEV | $45,990 | $46,990 |
| Lux AWD PHEV | $49,990 | $50,990 |
| Vanta AWD HEV | $49,990 | $49,990 |
| Vanta AWD PHEV | $53,990 | $53,990 |
The $1000 discounts on both Lux variants run until November 30, 2026, and the Vanta variants have no promotional discounts listed in the supplied pricing. The new H7 launches as a five-seater, but GWM Australia has confirmed that seven-seat versions will join the range in 2027.
GWM Australia says the second-generation H7 has attracted “unprecedented demand,” and more than 1500 people expressed interest after the SUV appeared at the Everything Electric show in Sydney in September 2026. The company also displayed the GWM Cannon Hi4-T PHEV dual-cab ute at the event.
