Key highlights:
- Corolla Ascent Sport hybrid hatch rises $1000 but gains equipment
- Most other listed variants receive $350 price increases
- Toyota is expected to unveil a new-generation Corolla next year
The Toyota Corolla has become more expensive in Australia, but buyers of the entry-level Ascent Sport hatchback now get extra equipment for their money. Toyota has added its previously optional Convenience Pack as standard to this trim, bringing front and rear parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert.
Other Corolla variants face smaller price increases without significant equipment changes, as the ageing small car continues to compete with cheaper Chinese electric vehicles.
2027 Toyota Corolla prices in Australia

All listed Corolla variants are hybrids, and prices exclude on-road costs.
| Variant | New price | Price increase |
|---|---|---|
| Ascent Sport hybrid sedan | $32,935 | $350 |
| Ascent Sport hybrid hatch | $33,110 | $1000 |
| SX hybrid sedan | $35,535 | $350 |
| SX hybrid hatch | $35,610 | $350 |
| ZR hybrid hatch | $39,450 | $350 |
The Ascent Sport hatchback now starts at $33,110 before on-road costs, and its $1000 price increase comes with additional standard equipment.
The SX and ZR hatchbacks, along with the Ascent Sport and SX sedans, have each become $350 more expensive. These variants receive no significant specification changes, apart from wireless Android Auto becoming available in the sedan range to match the hatchback.
Entry-level Corolla hatch gets more safety and parking features
The Ascent Sport hatchback now includes the previously optional Convenience Pack as standard, and the package adds:
- Front parking sensors
- Rear parking sensors
- Rear cross-traffic alert
Blind-spot monitoring was already standard on the hatchback, so buyers don’t gain that feature as part of the update.
The Corolla Ascent Sport sedan takes a different approach. Its Convenience Pack remains a $1000 option and adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, but it does not include parking sensors. Toyota doesn’t offer parking sensors on any Corolla sedan variant in Australia.

New paint colours across the Corolla range

Toyota has also changed the available exterior colours. All Corolla hatchback grades can now be ordered in Saturn Blue, a colour previously shared with the sedan but not offered on the hatchback, and it replaces the hatchback-exclusive Lunar Blue. Meanwhile, Onyx Night replaces Eclipse Black across both body styles.
These changes follow earlier equipment updates introduced around 12 months ago. Toyota added wireless Android Auto and gloss-black side mirror caps to the Corolla hatchback range, while the sedan received a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster across all grades.
The Ascent Sport and SX hatchbacks, however, retain a smaller 7.0-inch digital instrument display.
Corolla faces growing competition
The Toyota Corolla remains Australia’s best-selling small car year-to-date, according to new-car sales data, but cheaper Chinese electric vehicles, including the MG 4 Urban, have challenged it in recent months. The current-generation Corolla dates back to 2018, and Toyota is expected to unveil an all-new generation next year.
For now, the latest update focuses on added equipment for the entry-level hatchback, modest price rises across most of the range and revised colour choices.
