Mitsubishi has confirmed the all-new 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero will reach Australian showrooms by the end of this year, in December 2026, even though the company still keeps most of the SUV under wraps.
The next-generation off-roader is expected to use a version of Mitsubishi’s 2.4-litre twin-turbo diesel engine paired with a full-time four-wheel-drive system, although final Australian specifications have yet to be confirmed. It will compete directly with popular large SUVs including the Toyota Prado and Ford Everest.

Mitsubishi has not announced an exact unveiling date, but it has confirmed the new Pajero will make its global debut sometime between September and November 2026. It will then arrive in Australian showrooms in December 2026..
Mitsubishi has gradually revealed more details about the new Pajero over recent months.
In June, Mitsubishi confirmed the return of one of the Pajero’s most recognisable features, the Multi Meter. Now, the brand has released another teaser through its official Mitsubishi Japan YouTube channel, revealing fresh glimpses of the SUV’s front lights, rear styling, and cabin ahead of the official reveal.
2027 Mitsubishi Pajero powertrain and variants
Earlier this year, Mitsubishi confirmed the new Pajero will ride on a ladder-frame platform derived from the Triton ute. The company says the SUV will receive model-specific cabin development, unique front suspension tuning, and unique rear suspension tuning.
Four grades expected for Australia
Australian government approval documents published earlier this year indicate the new Pajero is expected to be offered in GLX, GLS, Exceed and GSR grades.
The GSR will likely feature additional off-road equipment or black exterior styling.

Recent spy photos suggest Mitsubishi may offer two different front-end designs. Buyers could see either a honeycomb mesh grille or a vertical slat grille depending on the market or trim level, although this has not been officially confirmed.
Here are some of Pajero’s front exterior details estimated from teasers and spy photos so far:
- H-shaped/T-shaped broad futuristic LED daytime running lights
- Flat, towering front bumper and boxy proportions giving classic 4×4 design hints
- Single-piece horizontal housing for the main headlights
The teasers suggest the new Pajero will adopt a boxier and more rugged design than its predecessor.

A recent video released by Mitsubishi Motors Japan gives existing Pajero owners an early glimpse inside the new SUV. The teaser footage offers a brief look at tan upholstery and door trim details that appear similar to those found in the Triton.
Australian fans can drive the 2027 Pajero before sale
Mitsubishi Australia has also launched a competition that allows one Pajero enthusiast to experience the new SUV before it goes on sale. The winner and an adult companion will attend an exclusive two-day drive event scheduled for December 2026, subject to any delays.
The event will take place near Adelaide, South Australia, where Mitsubishi Motors Australia is based.

According to the competition’s terms and conditions, Mitsubishi will cover the winner’s travel expenses and accommodation, and will offer them a $500 gift card. The total prize package carries an estimated value of around $8,000.
