Nissan has streamlined the Australian 2027 Nissan Z range for 2027 into two core models: the Z Coupé and the Z NISMO. Both variants are now available with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission without paying extra.

The update responds to strong customer demand for a manual NISMO and gives enthusiasts more choice. The latest changes mark the first major update for the seventh-generation RZ34 Nissan Z since its Australian launch.

Nissan has refreshed the existing model with styling, chassis and equipment upgrades while addressing early criticism of the original design. The updated range goes on sale in late July 2026, with the first customer delivered in September 2026.

Nissan Oceania Managing Director Steve Milette said, “The Z is a Nissan icon. It has always been about the connection between driver and car, so bringing a manual to the NISMO and genuine GT-R-derived hardware doubles down on our promise to our most committed enthusiasts.”

The biggest news is the arrival of Australia’s first manual Nissan Z NISMO. The new model joins the existing automatic version and expands the line-up to four variants: Z Coupé Manual, Z Coupé Automatic, Z NISMO Automatic, and Z NISMO Manual.

Orders for the updated 2027 Nissan Z range open in late July 2026 and the first customer deliveries are expected to begin in September 2026.

2027 Nissan Z powertrain and performance

The new manual NISMO uses a short-stroke six-speed manual gearbox paired with an exclusive NISMO-tuned drive mode. The standard Z Coupé has an output of 309kW and  520Nm, representing an increase of 11kW and 45Nm over the standard Z Coupé.

NISMO is short for “Nissan Motorsport” and represents Nissan’s in-house performance and racing division, which develops track-focused versions of the company’s road cars.

GT-R-inspired chassis upgrades

Nissan has upgraded the Z NISMO’s braking system with two-piece front brake rotors derived from the GT-R. The revised setup also includes new brake calliper colours and around 9kg less unsprung weight.

Suspension improvements across the range

Both manual and automatic Z Coupé models now feature upgraded NISMO monotube dampers, and this improves handling and ride comfort.
