Key highlights:
- Updated Chery Tiggo 4 arrives in Australia in late 2026
- New front bumper, black grille and hybrid wheel design
- Petrol and hybrid powertrains are expected to continue
The Chery Tiggo 4 is getting another styling refresh in Australia, with the updated small SUV approved for sale ahead of showroom arrivals expected in November or December 2026. The changes appear modest, focusing on a revised front bumper, a black grille and new wheels for the hybrid, while petrol and hybrid powertrains are expected to continue.
Pricing remains unconfirmed, but Chery is likely to keep the Tiggo 4 among Australia’s most affordable SUVs, with the current range starting at $23,990 drive-away. Lucas Harris, the COO of Chery Australia, confirmed the upcoming facelift to the Australian media and the first official images and government filing of the 2027 facelift were revealed by the Drive.

Chery Tiggo 4 update due late in 2026
Chery Australia has confirmed the updated 2027 Tiggo 4 will reach local showrooms late in the fourth quarter of 2026, covering October to December. The update has also appeared in Australian government documents approving the revised model for sale.
This will be the second styling change since the Tiggo 4 SUV arrived in Australia nearly two years ago and the fourth since the SUV launched in China almost a decade ago.
Chery has yet to announce pricing for the refreshed range. However, the brand is expected to maintain the model’s low entry price to keep it competitive in Australia’s small SUV segment.
What’s changing on the outside?

The most obvious changes are concentrated at the front. The updated Tiggo 4 receives a new front bumper and black grille, while the hybrid gets a new wheel design.
The rest of the exterior appears largely unchanged. The SUV received a revised rear-end design in Australia last year, so the latest update seems to build on that earlier facelift rather than introduce a wholesale redesign.
It remains unclear whether Chery has made any changes to the cabin. The current model features twin 10.25-inch displays and physical shortcut controls for air-conditioning functions.

Petrol and hybrid powertrains continue
Australian government documents indicate the updated Tiggo 4 will again offer two powertrain choices: a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol-electric hybrid. Revised versions of the engines are expected, although details remain limited.
| Specification | Petrol | Petrol-electric hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder | 1.5-litre naturally aspirated |
| Engine output | 108kW | 71kW |
| Electric motor | – | 150kW, expected to carry over |
| Transmission | CVT | Hybrid system |
The documentation lists a small change to the engine speed at which the hybrid’s 1.5-litre petrol engine produces peak power: 6000rpm, down from 6200rpm in the current model.
The petrol-only version is expected to retain its 108kW output and CVT, while the hybrid is expected to pair its 71kW petrol engine with the existing 150kW electric motor.
The government documents also list suspension revisions. The exact component changes remain unclear, but the paperwork records updated measurements for the positions of the wheels relative to the wheel arches.
Chery is expected to provide more technical details closer to the Australian launch.
Will pricing change?
Chery has not announced whether the refresh will bring any price changes. The current Chery Tiggo 4 SUV range starts at $23,990 drive-away, while the Ultimate grade accounts for around 90% of customer purchases, according to Harris. The petrol-powered Ultimate currently starts at $26,990 drive-away.
| Current petrol variant | Price |
|---|---|
| Chery Tiggo 4 Urban | $23,990 drive-away |
| Chery Tiggo 4 Ultimate | $26,990 drive-away |
The Tiggo 4’s appeal rests heavily on its affordable entry price and extensive equipment list. The current model offers twin 10.25-inch screens, a five-star ANCAP safety rating, a full suite of driver-assistance systems and a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Keeping those features alongside a low starting price will be important as Chery prepares the refreshed SUV for Australian buyers.
