It may be one of the most recognisable names in performance and utility, but Ford isn’t immune to recalls. Ford Motor Company of Australia has issued a notice affecting 13 units of the 2025 Mustang, Ranger, and Everest.
The recall, listed under REC-006409 and campaign number 25S19, was published on 22 August 2025.

What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?
According to the recall notice, the transmission’s main valve body may not meet engineering specifications. When the gear selector is placed in reverse, the vehicle may fail to engage reverse and could inadvertently move forward when placed in reverse or neutral.
A warning is triggered when the defect occurs, with both the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) and Wrench light illuminating.
If the vehicle behaves unpredictably in this way, it significantly raises the risk of an accident that could result in injury or death to occupants, bystanders, or other road users.

- Make: Ford

What should owners do now?
Ford will contact all affected owners directly. Customers will be asked to schedule a visit to an authorised Ford dealership to have the transmission inspected and rectified, with all work carried out free of charge.
Given the potential safety hazard, Ford urges owners not to ignore the recall.
