Great Wall Motors (GWM) Australia has issued a safety recall for its Cannon Alpha models – including diesel, hybrid-electric (HEV), and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants – manufactured from 2023-2025 – . The recall is due to an electronic power steering (EPS) wiring harness defect.
What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?
According to the official recall notice (reference REC-006410), states that the EPS wiring harness may inadvertently make contact with the driveshaft during motion. This contact can damage the wiring, potentially causing sudden loss of power steering or unexpected engine shutdown — creating a significant safety concern.
