Honda and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team have unveiled the livery for their 2026 Formula 1 car, the AMR26, ahead of the new season. The AMR26 will be powered by a Honda-built F1 power unit, marking a major new chapter for both brands under the sport’s all-new 2026 regulations.

It’s the first car designed by Adrian Newey for the team. The 2026 F1 season opens with Aston Martin Aramco drivers Fernando Alonso (No. 14) and Lance Stroll (No. 18) in the Melbourne race.

The 2026 Formula 1 season introduces completely new rules for both chassis design and power units. This makes the AMR26 one of the most significant cars the team has ever produced.

Pre-season testing and first race

Honda and Aston Martin will begin pre-season testing in Bahrain, with six total days scheduled: February 11–13 and February 18–20. Final preparations will then be made ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, which takes place on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

The AMR26 is the first Formula 1 car designed by Adrian Newey since joining Aston Martin as a Managing Technical Partner and Team Principal. The car is being developed at the AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone, UK, the team’s headquarters.

Newey says the AMR26 has been designed with a holistic approach, focusing on strong fundamentals, long-term development potential and consistent performance for drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso.

Statements by Adrian Newey and Koji Watanabe

Adrian Newey, Managing Technical Partner and Team Principal, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, said, “With the AMR26, we’ve taken a holistic approach: it’s not about one standout component, but how the full package works together. The focus has been on strong fundamentals, development potential, and a car that Lance and Fernando can extract performance from consistently.”

Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), added, “As one united team with AMAF1, we are delighted to take this first step into a highly demanding, yet most exciting challenge in the world of motorsport.”
