Honda Australia has detailed its forward-looking strategy for 2026, outlining a product rollout that reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility, product innovation, and customer value in the local market.
With a mix of returning icons and future-focused technologies, the announcement signals a transformative year ahead for the brand.

Prelude makes a comeback, EV plans take shape
Among the highlights is the mid-2026 launch of the all-new Honda Prelude, marking the return of the celebrated nameplate in a new hybrid form. The Prelude will be joined later in the year by Honda’s first-ever Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), a milestone for the brand in Australia.
Earlier in the year, updated versions of the Honda CR-V and Honda ZR-V will be rolled out, offering expanded hybrid options, a new all-wheel-drive hybrid drivetrain, and the next-generation Honda Connect system, featuring Google Built-In, first introduced in the Accord and Civic.
Hybrid momentum builds ahead of electrification push

Honda is continuing to strengthen its hybrid portfolio as part of a phased transition toward electrification. Recent months have shown growing consumer interest, with 50% of Honda sales in June 2025 coming from hybrid models. This follows a strong March performance, the brand’s best sales month in four years.
Central to this growth is the company’s e:HEV two-motor hybrid system, developed over 25 years. The system underpins multiple models and supports Honda’s goal to deliver efficient yet dynamic driving experiences.
Honda expects nearly 90% of its vehicle sales in Australia by mid-2026 to come from hybrid or electric vehicles, as it aligns with broader market readiness and demand.
Strengthening local presence with long-term vision
Honda’s local operations, which span over five decades, remain a central part of its strategy. Vehicles such as the HR-V, ZR-V, CR-V, Civic Hatch, Accord, and Civic Type R remain part of the core line-up.
Looking ahead
With updated SUVs, a hybrid sports coupe revival, and the introduction of a full-electric model, 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Honda Australia. These developments align with the brand’s global targets of achieving carbon neutrality and zero road fatalities by 2050, while also reinforcing its long-standing reputation for reliability and forward thinking in the Australian market.
