Hyundai Australia has announced a recall affecting 11,461 Hyundai Tucson SUVs due to a software issue that may prevent important information from appearing on the vehicle’s digital instrument cluster and head-up display. The recall applies to Tucson (NX4) vehicles produced between 2023 and 2026, with all variants within the model range potentially affected.
What’s the defect?
According to the official recall notice, a software issue may cause the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and Head-up Display (HUD) to fail to illuminate visual information. This may prevent the vehicle from displaying important information including vehicle speed, fuel level and other critical safety information. The issue relates to the vehicle software rather than a mechanical component, with Hyundai providing a software update to rectify the problem.

Why is it a safety concern?
If the affected displays fail to show important information or safety warnings while the vehicle is being driven, the driver may not be aware of a potential issue. Hyundai warns that the loss of safety system warnings while driving could increase the risk of an accident, potentially causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders. The inability to see the vehicle’s speed or other critical information could also make it more difficult for drivers to respond appropriately in certain situations.
