Jaecoo has hit an early sales milestone in Australia, with its new Jaecoo J5 EV surpassing 2,000 orders within just three months of launch. The electric compact SUV features a 155kW front-mounted motor paired with a 58.9kWh LFP battery, offering a competitive 402km WLTP range and 130kW DC fast-charging capability.

“In light of this strong momentum and recognising the ongoing fuel price pressures facing many Australians, we have decided to extend the current J5 EV launch offer until the end of April,” quoted Roy Munoz, Chief Commercial Officer, Omoda Jaecoo Australia. Jaecoo did a similar promotional price extension in January, too.

Strong start for a new EV player

The rapid sales growth signals strong early demand from Australian buyers and growing recognition of the Jaecoo brand locally. According to the company, the J5 EV’s success comes down to modern SUV styling, advanced technology, and competitive value for money. Some of this EV’s sales can also be attributed to the rising petrol prices due to the Middle East crisis.

Jaecoo J5 one of the fastest-selling new EV nameplates locally. It also completed its first 1,000 orders soon after a few weeks of launching, in late February 2026.

Jaecoo says this sales momentum reflects positive customer reception across Australia and strong engagement from its dealer network. The J5 EV also offers added peace of mind with the brand’s 8-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, which covers the battery, too.

What’s next for Jaecoo?

Jaecoo expects ongoing strong demand in the coming months, with deliveries continuing to ramp up. The brand is supported by a growing national dealer network, and its focus remains on customer satisfaction and long-term growth.

Jaecoo is owned by the Chinese carmaker Chery Automobile, and the Jaecoo J5 EVs are primarily made in Chery’s headquarters in Wuhu, Anhui, China.
