Jaguar Land Rover Australia has issued a recall for 322 units of the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque, built between 2021 and 2025. It is looking at the hybridised variants due to a potentially software flaw that could lead to battery discharge during EV mode.
What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?
A software issue may induce the high voltage battery of the vehicle to discharge whilst it’s in EV mode, leading the vehicle to lose its motive power and fail to restart the engine. Sudden loss of motive power increases the potential risk of accidents, causing injury or even death to the passengers.
