Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia is celebrating a major milestone in 2026, marking 130 years since Carl Benz introduced the world’s first motorised work van. To commemorate the occasion, the brand has unveiled a special-edition Vito Crew Cab 30th Anniversary Edition for Australia and launched a range of promotional offers across selected commercial van models.
The celebrations also coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Vito, one of Mercedes-Benz’s most successful midsize vans globally, making the limited-edition model a dual-anniversary tribute.
Mercedes-Benz Vans celebrates 130 years of commercial vehicle heritage
Mercedes-Benz traces its commercial vehicle history back to 1896, when Carl Benz developed what is widely recognised as the world’s first motorised delivery van. Over the following 130 years, the brand has continuously expanded and refined its van portfolio to cater to a broad range of industries, including logistics, construction, trades, government fleets, emergency services, rental operators and passenger transport providers.
In Australia, Mercedes-Benz Vans has been operating since 1998 and today offers a diverse commercial range that includes the Sprinter large van, available in Panel Van, Cab Chassis and Transfer Bus configurations, alongside the midsize Vito range, which is offered as a Panel Van, Crew Cab and Tourer.
The lineup has also evolved to include fully electric alternatives such as the eSprinter and eVito, reflecting the brand’s broader shift towards vehicle electrification.
Special Vito Crew Cab 30th Anniversary Edition revealed

To mark both anniversaries, Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia has created a limited-production Vito Crew Cab 30th Anniversary Edition exclusively for the local market.
The special edition introduces a significant mechanical upgrade for the Vito range, becoming the first Vito in Australia to feature the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine from the premium V-Class people mover.
Producing 174kW of power and 500Nm of torque, Mercedes-Benz says the model becomes the most powerful midsize crew cab van in its segment. The van is offered in a five-seat crew cab configuration while still providing approximately 3.6 cubic metres of cargo space, allowing it to balance passenger carrying capability with commercial practicality.
Exclusive styling and premium equipment
The Vito Crew Cab 30th Anniversary Edition receives a range of visual and equipment upgrades designed to distinguish it from the standard model.
Exterior highlights include:
- Exclusive Alpine Grey paint finish
- 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels
- Roof rails
- Sports Package
- Unique 30th Anniversary decals
Inside, Mercedes-Benz has added several premium features typically associated with passenger vehicles rather than commercial vans.
Key cabin upgrades include:
- Black leatherette upholstery
- Heated front seats with memory function
- Wireless smartphone charging
- Dual electric sliding doors
- Electric tailgate
- MULTIBEAM LED headlights
These additions are intended to enhance both comfort and convenience for business owners, fleet operators and drivers who spend extended periods behind the wheel.
Pricing and availability

The Mercedes-Benz Vito Crew Cab 30th Anniversary Edition will be offered in limited numbers for Australia.
Orders open from 1 August 2026, with pricing set at $86,679 before on-road costs (MRLP).
Mercedes-Benz notes that the listed price excludes registration, stamp duty, compulsory third-party insurance, dealer delivery charges and other state-based on-road costs.
Savings available across the Mercedes-Benz Vans range
Alongside the anniversary model, Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia is also introducing limited-time offers across selected vehicles in its commercial lineup.
Available until 30 September 2026, the promotional campaign includes:
- Savings of up to $4,700 on selected Vito models
- Savings of up to $7,400 on selected Sprinter models
The offers are designed to celebrate the brand’s 130-year commercial vehicle heritage while providing added value for businesses looking to expand or upgrade their fleets.
Mercedes-Benz highlights commitment to Australian businesses

According to Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia Managing Director Diane Tarr, the anniversary celebrations are as much about recognising customers as they are about celebrating the brand’s history.
Tarr said the limited-edition Vito was developed to honour both the company’s 130-year transport legacy and the Vito’s 30-year history, while highlighting Mercedes-Benz Vans’ long-standing commitment to supporting Australian businesses.
She noted that the company has continually adapted its products to meet changing customer requirements, helping businesses across the country remain productive and mobile through evolving commercial demands.
A milestone year for Mercedes-Benz Vans
The launch of the Vito Crew Cab 30th Anniversary Edition underscores Mercedes-Benz Vans’ ongoing focus on combining commercial practicality with premium features and advanced technology.
With a powerful new drivetrain, exclusive styling elements and enhanced equipment levels, the limited-edition model serves as a flagship celebration of both the Vito nameplate and Mercedes-Benz Vans’ 130 years of commercial vehicle innovation.
