Inchcape Australia and Stellantis have mutually agreed to end their distribution partnership for PEUGEOT in Australia, bringing an end to the current importer arrangement after a transition period.

While the final date has not yet been confirmed, Stellantis says the French brand will continue operating in Australia and will announce its future local distribution plans at a later stage.

The announcement forms part of Inchcape Australia’s ongoing review of its brand portfolio, which the company says is aimed at ensuring its partnerships align with its long-term business and growth strategy.

PEUGEOT will remain in Australia

The end of the partnership does not mean PEUGEOT is leaving Australia.

Instead, Stellantis has confirmed the brand will continue to operate locally under a new distribution arrangement once the transition from Inchcape is complete. However, it has not yet been revealed who will take over responsibility for importing and distributing PEUGEOT vehicles in Australia.

Both companies say they will work together throughout the transition to minimise disruption for customers, dealers and business partners.

What does this mean for existing PEUGEOT owners?

Current PEUGEOT owners should see little immediate change.

During the transition period, Inchcape Australia will continue to:

  • Sell existing vehicle stock.
  • Honour manufacturer warranty obligations.
  • Provide scheduled servicing.
  • Supply genuine PEUGEOT parts.
  • Carry out recall campaigns.
  • Deliver diagnostic software updates through factory-trained technicians.

This means customers can continue servicing their vehicles through the existing authorised PEUGEOT dealer network while Stellantis finalises its future distribution plans.

Why are Inchcape and Stellantis ending the partnership?

According to Inchcape Australia, the decision follows its standard portfolio review process.

The company says it regularly evaluates its brand partnerships to ensure they support its strategic growth objectives and broader business direction.

Neither Inchcape nor Stellantis has indicated that the decision was prompted by changes in PEUGEOT’s product plans or its commitment to the Australian market.

What’s next for PEUGEOT Australia?

The next major announcement is expected to come from Stellantis, which says it will provide more details on PEUGEOT’s future distribution model in Australia “in due course.”

Until then, PEUGEOT vehicles will continue to be sold and supported through the existing network during the agreed transition period.

Inchcape also confirmed it remains committed to the Australian market through its wider portfolio of passenger cars, SUVs, utes and trucks, spanning petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains.
