The first fully electric Range Rover Sport is now available to order in Australia, bringing a 404kW electric powertrain to one of the brand’s most performance-focused SUVs. Australian pricing starts at $226,518 before on-road costs for the Range Rover Sport Electric Dynamic HSE, while the Autobiography is priced from $249,518. Range Rover Australia says first deliveries are expected in March 2027.

The electric Sport joins the existing Range Rover Sport range, which continues to offer petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Unlike some electric SUVs that primarily chase outright acceleration, Range Rover says the Sport Electric has been developed around sharper handling and driver involvement.

404kW and 850Nm from two motors

Range Rover Sport Electric

The Range Rover Sport Electric uses two 260kW electric motors, one at each axle, with a combined output of 404kW and 850Nm. That makes it the highest-torque Range Rover Sport yet. It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds when Dynamic Launch Mode is used, matching the claimed acceleration time of the P530 V8-powered Range Rover Sport.

Range Rover says torque delivery is also 50 per cent faster than in the Range Rover Electric, with the powertrain designed to give the Sport a more immediate response. The electric model has a body structure that is 61 per cent stiffer than the Range Rover Sport PHEV, while its centre of gravity sits 73mm lower. Both changes are intended to reduce body movement and give the SUV a more planted feel through corners.

Electric power without losing off-road ability

Range Rover Sport Electric

The Range Rover Sport Electric is not being positioned as a road-only performance SUV. Its electric drivetrain provides what Range Rover calls virtual all-wheel drive, while the chassis combines Dynamic Air Suspension, Electronic Active Roll Control, Twin Valve Dampers and Adaptive Dynamics. The latter monitors 100 parameters up to 500 times per second to adjust the vehicle’s behaviour. All-wheel steering is also available to help the large SUV negotiate tighter corners.

Range Rover says the electric Sport can wade through up to 900mm of water and tackle inclines of up to 45 degrees. Those figures are particularly relevant to Australian buyers who use large luxury SUVs for towing, touring or off-road driving rather than simply commuting. The company demonstrated the vehicle’s off-road capability during testing in the Carrara marble quarries in Italy, where it tackled steep gradients and loose, polished surfaces.

Up to 600km of claimed range

Range Rover Sport Electric

Power comes from a 118.5kWh lithium-ion battery, with an 800-volt electrical architecture supporting faster DC charging. Range Rover quotes up to 600km of NEDC range, while its stated real-world range is up to 535km. Actual range will vary with driving conditions, speed, temperature, load and other factors.

At a compatible rapid DC charger, the Sport Electric can add up to 220km of range in 10 minutes when charging at its maximum rate. A 10-80 per cent charge takes around 22 minutes under the same conditions. For Australian buyers, that combination of range and charging speed will be important given the distances involved in interstate travel and the availability of suitable high-power charging infrastructure outside major cities.

Two variants available in Australia

Range Rover Sport Electric

The Range Rover Sport Electric is available locally in Dynamic HSE and Autobiography specifications. The Dynamic HSE starts at $226,518 before on-road costs, while the Autobiography costs $249,518. Buyers of the latter can also access Range Rover Bespoke personalisation options, including a wider choice of colours, materials and trim combinations.

The electric Sport will be built alongside petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions at JLR’s Solihull plant in the UK. For Australian buyers, the arrival of the Sport Electric adds a fully electric option to the Range Rover Sport range without abandoning the model’s focus on performance, luxury and off-road capability.
