Renault has unveiled the Rafale Hypnotic as the new flagship of its coupe-SUV range, combining exclusive styling, extra equipment and the brand’s most powerful hybrid powertrain, and it also carries a hefty price.
Priced at €63,550 (A$102,850) in France, the limited-edition Rafale becomes the most expensive SUV to wear the Renault badge, costing more than equivalent entry-level models from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
However, Australian buyers will miss out. Renault will build just 1,500 numbered examples, with the entire production run allocated across 14 European countries. Orders open on October 1, 2026, with deliveries scheduled for late 2026.
221kW plug-in hybrid power
Renault fits the Rafale Hypnotic with its most powerful hyper-hybrid E-Tech 4×4 221kW powertrain. The plug-in hybrid system combines a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with three electric motors.

The coupe-SUV also uses an Alpine-tuned chassis, 4Control Advanced four-wheel steering and camera-predictive active suspension.
Rafale Hypnotic exterior highlights
The Rafale Hypnotic is based on the Atelier Alpine trim but receives several exclusive touches. The exterior of the Renault Rafale Hypnotic is defined by a sophisticated, aggressive, and highly monochromatic “dark universe” aesthetic. It also features:
- Satin Forest Black paint
- Black grille
- Darker badging
- Tinted lights
- Satin-finish 21-inch alloy wheels
- Individual numbered plaque

Alcantara dominates the cabin
Renault gives the Hypnotic a more distinctive interior with a mix of Alcantara and textured fabric upholstery. The seats feature blue, white and red stitching, while Renault covers the dashboard in Alcantara, and more black trim runs throughout the cabin.
The seatbacks also feature illuminated Alpine emblems. The numbered plaque on the centre console adds another reminder that Renault will build only 1,500 examples.
More equipment comes standard
As the new flagship Rafale, the Hypnotic receives more standard equipment than lower trims:
- LED Matrix Vision headlights
- Solarbay opacifying glass panoramic sunroof
- 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system
- Head-up display
- Hands-free parking
- 360-degree camera
- Puddle lights
- Front heated seats with driver massage
Only 1,500 examples will be built
An individually numbered plaque on the centre console confirms each vehicle’s place in the 1,500-unit production run.
French pricing starts at €63,550 (A$102,850). That makes the Hypnotic €3,300 ($A5,340) more expensive than the Atelier Alpine and €7,800 ($12,620) dearer than the Esprit Alpine with the same powertrain.
The flagship Renault also costs more than entry-level versions of the DS No8, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and Audi Q5 Sportback.
Customers across 14 European markets can place orders from October 1, 2026, and Renault will schedule deliveries for late 2026.
The Rafale Hypnotic will make its first public appearance at the 2026 Paris Motor Show on October 12.
The limited-edition SUV will remain exclusive to Europe, with no Australian availability planned because the entire 1,500-unit production run will go to those 14 European countries.
