Škoda Auto has revealed more details about the design philosophy behind the upcoming Škoda Epiq, describing it as the first production model to fully embody the brand’s new Modern Solid design language.

The compact electric SUV is expected to become an important addition to Škoda’s growing EV lineup, especially in the affordable small SUV segment. While models such as the Škoda Elroq and Škoda Enyaq already feature some Modern Solid cues, the Epiq is the first model designed completely around the new styling philosophy.

According to Škoda, the Modern Solid design language focuses on four main principles:

  • Simplification
  • Precision
  • Functionality
  • Authenticity

The company says the design approach removes unnecessary lines and clutter, allowing the key design elements to stand out more clearly. Sharp contours and clean surfaces are also intended to improve both visual appeal and aerodynamic efficiency — something particularly important for electric vehicles.

Oliver Stefani, Head of Design at Škoda, said the Epiq “embodies Modern Solid in its purest form.”

Inside, the Škoda Epiq will feature a structured cabin layout that combines physical controls with digital interfaces. The automaker says the aim is to make the cabin more intuitive and user-friendly, rather than relying entirely on touchscreen controls.

Škoda also highlighted the use of durable and warm materials designed to create a more human-centric interior environment.

Designer Petr Nevřela said the Epiq was developed with “purity, simplicity and purpose” as the core focus.

As an EV, aerodynamic efficiency was a key consideration during the development of the Epiq. Škoda says the clean surfaces and simplified body design are not only stylistic decisions, but also functional ones that help improve efficiency and driving range.

The Epiq’s upright yet streamlined appearance also aims to combine practicality with a tougher SUV character.

Will the Škoda Epiq launch in Australia?

Škoda Australia has not yet confirmed local launch timing for the Epiq electric SUV. However, as the brand continues expanding its EV lineup globally, the Epiq could eventually become an entry-level electric SUV option for Australian buyers.
