Tesla has achieved its strongest monthly sales result in Australian history, with 8,670 vehicles delivered in June 2026, according to data from the Electric Vehicle Council.
The result not only marks a record month for the Tesla Model Y but also for the Tesla brand itself. June’s figure surpassed Tesla’s previous monthly record of 6,433 deliveries in May 2026.
Tesla recorded an impressive 88.9% year-on-year increase compared to June 2025, when it delivered 4,589 vehicles.
Tesla’s 2026 momentum continues

Tesla has now delivered 23,588 vehicles in Australia during the first half of 2026. This represents a 66.7% increase compared with the same period in 2025.
The Tesla Model Y led the American carmaker’s June success. A total of 8,072 Model Ys were delivered during the month, covering about 93% of the total June deliveries.
That figure represents:
- A 133.5% increase compared with June 2025
- A new monthly sales record for the Model Y
- An improvement over its previous record of 5,605 deliveries in May 2026

The strong result was boosted by the introduction of the six-seat Tesla Model Y L.
The Model Y is expected to remain the best-selling EV Down Under so far this year as we wait for the official VFACTS sales data for June. The second-placed BYD Sealion 7 had recorded 7,786 deliveries at the end of May 2026.
Model 3 continues to decline

The Tesla Model 3 moved in the opposite direction, while the Model Y enjoyed record-breaking demand. Tesla delivered just 598 Model 3s in June, which is a 47.2% year-on-year decline.
Year-to-date deliveries now stand at:
- Tesla Model Y: 20,396 (+95.5% YoY)
- Tesla Model 3: 3,192 (-14.1% YoY)
New competition is emerging
Despite the Tesla Model Y’s dominance, another rival is beginning to gather momentum. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, which launched in late March 2026, is steadily increasing deliveries.

The Model Y still comfortably outsold several of Australia’s most popular vehicles in May 2026, including:
- Ford Ranger: 4,474 deliveries
- Toyota HiLux: 4,005 deliveries
- Toyota RAV4: 3,865 deliveries
- Hyundai Kona: 2,291
Polestar delivers mixed results

The Electric Vehicle Council also released June delivery figures for Polestar. Polestar deliveries fell 25.1% compared with June 2025.
- Polestar 2: 36 deliveries (-73.3% YoY)
- Polestar 3: 17 deliveries (-43.3% YoY)
- Polestar 4: 201 deliveries (+15.5% YoY)
Polestar has delivered 1,202 vehicles so far in 2026, despite the weaker June result, which is a 2.5% increase over the first half of 2025.
EV demand continues to climb
EV sales have continued to strengthen across Australia this year, supported by higher fuel prices. In May 2026, EVs reached a record 19.9% share of all new vehicle sales. Hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles together accounted for nearly half of all new car sales.
The strong trend is expected to continue into June as cars ordered during the height of the Middle East conflict in March and April are delivered to customers amid sustained demand.
Bottom line
Tesla has set a new benchmark in Australia by completing 8,670 deliveries in June 2026, which is its best monthly result on record. The Model Y led the charge with a record 8,072 deliveries.
The Model 3 continues to lose ground, and the Model Y remains Australia’s dominant EV, even as competition from models such as the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid continues to build.
Overall, Australia’s appetite for electrified vehicles continues to grow, with EVs, hybrids and plug-in hybrids making up an increasingly large share of new car sales.
