Xiaomi has revealed the interior of the Skynomad N70 Max, its new five-seat range-extended electric SUV, as the Chinese technology giant continues to expand its rapidly growing car business.
The Xiaomi Skynomad N70 Max combines a spacious cabin with a 76kWh battery, all-wheel drive and a claimed 505km of electric range on China’s CLTC test cycle. While the SUV is currently only confirmed for China, Xiaomi’s growing ambitions beyond its home market make the Skynomad range one to watch for Australia.
A spacious, technology-focused interior
The N70 Max measures 4960mm long, 1998mm wide and 1765mm tall, with a 2950mm wheelbase. It has five seats, with the second row able to slide backwards to provide up to 1410mm of passenger space.
When maximum cargo capacity is needed, the rear seats can be adjusted to provide up to 2425 litres of storage space. The cabin is packed with technology, including a 16.1-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument display and a head-up display with 3D augmented reality graphics.
Passengers also get a 21.4-inch 3K rear entertainment screen, while the front and rear seats can be heated, ventilated and equipped with massage functions. The front seats can also rotate, while a glass roof, 360-degree camera and automatic parking assistance are among the other available features. Xiaomi has even fitted a 9-litre refrigerator, adding to the N70 Max’s premium SUV positioning.

310kW all-wheel drive
The N70 Max uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 310kW of peak power. It is powered by a 76kWh NMC battery and can reportedly travel 505km on electric power alone under the CLTC test cycle.
Xiaomi claims a combined CLTC driving range of 1461km, with fuel consumption rated at 6.1L/100km once the battery is low. The range-extender system uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine to generate electricity when required, rather than directly driving the wheels.
The Xiaomi Skynomad N70 Max also gets adaptive air suspension, double-wishbone front suspension and five-link independent rear suspension with variable damping.
Plenty of safety technology
The N70 Max is fitted with 12 airbags, including front, side and head airbags. Its driver-assistance hardware includes a forward-facing LiDAR sensor, up to three millimetre-wave radars and multiple cameras. The system supports features including lane-centering assistance, lane-change assistance, blind-spot monitoring, emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, collision prevention and door-open warnings.
Xiaomi also uses an advanced computing platform for its autonomous-driving system, with the hardware reportedly capable of up to 700 TOPS of computing power. The SUV’s body structure uses a mix of high-strength steel and aluminium, with an integrated hot-formed door ring and reinforced cabin structure.
How much does the Xiaomi Skynomad N70 Max cost?
The N70 Max is currently priced from 259,900 yuan in China, equivalent to approximately $56,000 in Australia based on current conversion rates. That figure is for the Chinese market and does not account for Australian taxes, duties, homologation or other on-road costs.
The model is already attracting attention in China, with reports suggesting the wider Skynomad range has received more than 100,000 pre-orders since reservations opened. The Skynomad is Xiaomi’s third vehicle line after the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV, both of which have helped establish the company as a serious new player in China’s electric-vehicle market.
Could the Xiaomi Skynomad N70 Max come to Australia?
There is currently no confirmed Australian launch date for the Xiaomi Skynomad N70 Max. However, Xiaomi has previously indicated that it plans to expand its automotive business into international markets, potentially from 2027 onwards.
If the company eventually brings its vehicles to Australia, the N70 Max could be an interesting proposition for buyers looking for a large SUV that combines electric driving capability with the flexibility of a petrol range extender. For now, Australian buyers will have to wait and see whether Xiaomi decides to make the jump from China’s increasingly competitive car market to Australia.
