Key highlights

  • Xpeng plans to reach 66 retail locations across Australia by the end of 2026.
  • The brand says it has resolved 250 cases linked to promotional offers made by former distributor TrueEV.
  • The upcoming L03 SUV will start at $41,900 before on-road costs, with the G9L flagship due in early 2027.

Xpeng is stepping up its Australian expansion, with plans to have 66 retail locations across every state and territory by the end of 2026.

The Chinese electric vehicle brand is also growing its local model range, with the L03 mid-size SUV expected to arrive in Australian showrooms before the end of this year. A larger flagship SUV, the G9L, is scheduled to follow in early 2027, while an even larger model called the GX is also planned for 2027.

The expansion comes as Xpeng establishes its factory-backed Australian operation following the breakdown of its previous arrangement with independent distributor TrueEV.

TrueEV introduced the brand to Australia in late 2024 with the G6 electric SUV. However, the relationship later deteriorated, leading to a Federal Court dispute and leaving some customers seeking benefits they had been promised when purchasing their vehicles.

Xpeng Australia, operating as Xpeng ANZ, says it has processed more than 1,400 customer enquiries and resolved 250 cases relating to promotional offers made by TrueEV.

These commitments included $5,000 cashback offers, promotional 10-year warranties and free servicing. Xpeng pledged in August 2026 to honour eligible promises made to customers by its former distributor.

The company says customers who purchased an Xpeng through TrueEV and were promised these benefits can contact its customer care team at auscustomercare@xiaopeng.com.

Customers should provide their name, vehicle details, proof of purchase and any documents showing the commitments made at the time of sale.

Xpeng ANZ national aftersales manager Shaun Anthony said the company was continuing to support existing owners while preparing for further growth in Australia and New Zealand.

For Australian buyers, resolving these cases is an important part of establishing confidence in a brand that is still building its local reputation. Customers considering an Xpeng should also check the warranty and servicing terms attached to their specific vehicle and purchase agreement.

Xpeng’s Australian range currently includes the G6 electric SUV and X9 electric people mover. An updated G6 arrived earlier in 2026, followed by the X9.

The L03 will add a more affordable option when it reaches showrooms before the end of the year. Priced from $41,900 before on-road costs, it will compete in Australia’s popular mid-size SUV segment.

Unlike the fully electric G6 and X9, the L03 will be offered with both electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrains. An EREV uses an electric motor to drive the wheels, with a petrol engine available to generate electricity and help extend driving range.

The G9L, which is expected to arrive in early 2027, will sit above the current models as a large flagship SUV. It will also be offered with electric and extended-range powertrains.

The larger GX is planned for 2027 as well. Xpeng has yet to confirm Australian pricing and specifications for either the G9L or GX. The GX name may also change for the local market, as it is already used by Lexus for one of its large SUVs.

Warranty support and spare parts supply

Xpeng is also building its aftersales support as its Australian vehicle numbers grow.

The company offers a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty for private owners, including customers who purchased through TrueEV. The coverage includes anti-corrosion and anti-rust protection.

The battery, battery management system and electric motors receive separate coverage of up to 160,000km, with a seven-year term for commercial users and eight years for private buyers. Paintwork has a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

In June 2026, Xpeng opened a genuine parts warehouse in Melbourne, managed in partnership with FedEx. The company says Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne receive next-day parts delivery, while Brisbane receives next-day delivery for urgent orders and two-day delivery for standard orders.

Parts delivery times for other Australian locations have not been confirmed.

How Xpeng is tracking against its rivals

Xpeng has delivered 1,183 vehicles since it began reporting sales in monthly VFACTS industry figures in June 2026. That total comprises 1,096 G6 SUVs and 87 X9 people movers.

For context, Deepal recorded 924 sales and Leapmotor recorded 1,168 over the same period, although both rivals had been reporting their figures throughout the year.

The L03 could help Xpeng reach a wider group of Australian buyers, with its $41,900 starting price undercutting the Geely EX5, which starts at $41,990 before on-road costs.

With more retail sites, additional models and a growing aftersales operation, Xpeng is working to establish itself beyond its initial electric SUV offering. How well it handles customer commitments and supports owners outside major cities will be just as important as the arrival of new models.
