Hyundai has pulled the covers off the next-generation i30 Sedan at the Busan Mobility Show in South Korea, revealing a dramatically redesigned small sedan that is larger, more technologically advanced and more electrified than its predecessor.
Known as the Avante in Korea and the Elantra in other global markets, the new i30 Sedan is expected to arrive in Australia during the first half of 2027, with petrol and hybrid variants likely to be offered. Orders will open in Korea during the third quarter of 2026 (July to September).

- A boot lid shaped to resemble an integrated rear spoiler

The new i30 Sedan adopts an interior design heavily inspired by the recently revealed Ioniq 3. The dashboard now features:
- A large central touchscreen
- A row of physical shortcut controls beneath the screen
- Twin central air vents
- A slim, high-mounted digital instrument cluster
- Distinctive padded dashboard trim
The sporty, asymmetrical dashboard layout of the current model has been abandoned, with the angled centre stack and large centre console divider removed in favour of a cleaner design.
Larger screens and Hyundai’s latest software
Buyers can choose between:
- 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, or
- 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen
Current model features 8.0-inch and 10.25-inch displays. The new screens feature permanently anchored shortcut icons along the bottom for easier access.
The system also debuts Hyundai’s latest Pleos Connect infotainment platform, based on Android Automotive. Having first appeared in the Grandeur, the new software effectively allows the i30 Sedan to skip an entire generation of Hyundai infotainment technology.
Also making its debut is Hyundai’s new Gleo AI, a generative and conversational AI assistant.
More premium interior features
Hyundai has also introduced several comfort and convenience upgrades. New cabin colour options include Cognac, Ivory Rose, and Chalk Beige.
Other available features include a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system and 100W ultra-fast USB charging ports for both front and rear passengers.

Safety of the upcoming i30 Sedan
Hyundai has expanded the sedan’s suite of active safety technologies. New and updated safety features include:
- Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control 2 (automatically slowing the car for speed bumps/intersections)
- Pedal Misuse Safety Assist (reduce unintended acceleration at low speeds)
- Memory Reversing Assist (automatically controls the steering when reverse parking)
