Mercedes-Benz has opened Australian orders for the highly comprehensive mid-cycle facelift of the S-Class, ahead of local deliveries starting in November 2026. The 2027 Mercedes-Benz S-Class gets revised styling, updated six and eight-cylinder engines, new cabin technology and expanded driver-assistance features.

Mercedes-Benz calls this the most significant update within a single S-Class generation. The refreshed Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will also reach Australia in the first half of 2027, but its local pricing and specification are yet to be announced.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class pricing and release date

Buyers will have to pay roughly $8,000 to $10,000 more to get their hands on the heavily updated Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift, which updates more than 50 per cent of the vehicle’s components.

The two core variants of the 2027 Mercedes-Benz S-Class are open for orders across Australia and will be delivered in November 2026. A third, ultra-luxury flagship Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is joining the lineup in the first half of 2027.

Updated six- and eight-cylinder engines

The Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic is powered by an updated 3L turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, producing:

  • 280kW
  • 560Nm, rising briefly to 600Nm with overboost
  • 0–100km/h in 4.9 seconds

The long wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S580 L 4Matic gets a new, high-performance M177 EVO 4L twin-turbo V8 engine, which produces:

  • 395kW
  • 750Nm
  • 0–100km/h in 4.0 seconds, down from 4.4 seconds

The new V8 features a flat-plane crankshaft designed to reduce rotating mass and sharpen response. Both variants use a nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Longest car in the lineup, the flagship Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will join the Australian range in the first half of 2027, with full local specifications to be confirmed.

Smarter suspension and steering

Every Australian S-Class gets 4.5 degrees of rear-wheel steering as standard, with an optional system that increases it to 10 degrees to further reduce the turning circle.

Optional Airmatic and E-Active Body Control features can use road-condition data from Mercedes-Benz’s cloud-based system to recognise speed bumps and prepare the suspension before reaching them.

New MB.OS technology inside

The facelifted Mercedes-Benz S-Class now runs the MB.OS operating system with OTA updates. Its cabin features and technology include:
