The Polestar 4 has received a range of updates for the 2027 model year in Australia, including chassis upgrades, new option packs and improved sustainability credentials.
With orders now open nationwide and pricing unchanged for the entry-level Rear Motor variant at $78,500 before on-road costs, the electric SUV-coupé continues to target premium EV rivals such as the Tesla Model Y, Porsche Macan Electric and BMW iX2.

Improved ride and handling

Polestar says both Rear Motor and Dual Motor versions have received a recalibrated chassis aimed at improving comfort and driving dynamics.
Changes include new spring and anti-roll bar settings, revised high-capacity passive dampers, and polyurethane rebound stops replacing the previous internal rebound coil springs. Steering has also been retuned to deliver greater precision.
According to the brand, the updates provide a more controlled ride across varying road conditions while improving both agility and comfort.
Still the fastest Polestar
The Dual Motor all-wheel-drive variant remains the quickest model in the Polestar range, capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
While performance remains unchanged, Polestar has continued its sustainability push, reducing the vehicle’s cradle-to-gate carbon footprint.
The Polestar 4 Dual Motor now records a carbon footprint of 20.3 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, while the Rear Motor version sits at 19.4 tonnes. Since launch, the Australian-spec Dual Motor’s carbon footprint has been reduced by 1.1 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.

Simplified model range

For 2027, Polestar has adopted a clearer naming structure across the range:
- Polestar 4 Rear Motor
- Polestar 4 Dual Motor
- Polestar 4 Dual Motor with Performance Pack
The revised hierarchy is accompanied by subtle visual differences. Rear Motor models feature black seatbelts and rotary controls, Dual Motor variants add Swedish gold detailing, while Performance Pack-equipped vehicles receive full Swedish gold accents.
New Comfort Pack introduced
A new Comfort Pack has been added to the options list, allowing buyers to add key convenience features without upgrading to the more expensive Plus Pack.
Priced at $1,200, the Comfort Pack includes:
- Heated steering wheel
- Power-operated steering column
- Easy entry and exit function
- 12-way electrically adjustable seats with mechanical cushion extension
Polestar has also separated the optional 22kW AC onboard charger from the Plus Pack, making it available as a standalone $900 option.
Meanwhile, the Pro Pack has been discontinued for the 2027 model year.

Growing the Polestar line-up

The Polestar 4 currently sits between the Polestar 2 fastback and the larger Polestar 3 SUV in the brand’s local range.
Looking ahead, Polestar plans to expand its portfolio with a new Polestar 4 variant due later in 2026, an all-new replacement for the Polestar 2 in 2027, the Polestar 6 roadster, and the smaller Polestar 7 compact SUV expected in 2028.
With its latest updates, the 2027 Polestar 4 aims to strengthen its appeal in Australia’s increasingly competitive premium electric SUV segment by combining strong performance, improved ride comfort, and enhanced sustainability credentials.
