The 2026 Cupra Leon VZx Sportstourer AWD has been confirmed for Australia, giving performance wagon fans a new alternative in a market increasingly dominated by SUVs.

Joining the updated Leon range introduced late last year, the flagship wagon combines a 245kW turbo-petrol engine with all-wheel drive, rear torque vectoring technology and a practical wagon body style. Cupra has priced the Leon VZx Sportstourer at $67,490 before on-road costs, while a nationwide drive-away price of $72,490 applies regardless of location.

Customer orders are now open, with the first Australian deliveries expected from September 2026.

Most powerful Leon wagon yet

Powering the Leon VZx Sportstourer is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 245kW, making it more powerful than the Leon VZx hatchback sold locally.

The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Cupra’s all-wheel-drive system, helping the wagon sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.8 seconds.

A key feature is the inclusion of rear torque vectoring technology, which can actively distribute power between the rear wheels to improve agility and traction. Cupra has also equipped the wagon with a dedicated drift mode, a feature rarely seen in a practical family-oriented vehicle.

The Leon VZx Sportstourer is currently the only Leon variant available with all-wheel drive in Australia.

High level of standard equipment

Cupra Leon VZx AWD

Cupra has equipped the Leon VZx Sportstourer with a lengthy list of standard features.

Exterior highlights include forged 19-inch Hailstorm alloy wheels, cross-drilled performance brakes, Cupra’s signature shark-nose front-end styling and illuminated rear badging.

Inside, the wagon comes standard with:

  • Leather-appointed upholstery
  • Heated front seats
  • Driver’s seat memory function
  • Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC)
  • Power tailgate
  • Sennheiser premium audio system

The practical body style remains a key selling point, offering additional cargo space and versatility compared with the Leon hatch while retaining the brand’s performance-focused character.

The package adds CUP Bucket front seats with carbon-fibre shells, Matrix Ultra LED headlights, dark gloss exterior trim and larger Akebono six-piston front brakes.

Cupra says the upgraded braking package is designed to enhance stopping performance during spirited driving.
