BMW Group Australia has announced a leadership change for its financial services division, with Mario Lourenco appointed Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group Financial Services Australia and New Zealand, effective 1 August 2026.
The appointment marks a new chapter for BMW Financial Services across Australia and New Zealand, as current CEO May Wong transitions to the role of Chief Financial Officer at BMW Financial Services UK.

Who is Mario Lourenco?

Lourenco brings more than 25 years of experience in the finance industry and nearly two decades within the BMW Group Financial Services network. Since joining BMW Group Financial Services Portugal in 2006, he has held senior leadership positions across several international markets, including Brazil, Spain, China and most recently Mexico.
Prior to his appointment in Australia and New Zealand, Lourenco served as Chief Executive Officer of BMW Financial Services Mexico and Importer Markets, a role he assumed in May 2025. He has also previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer at BMW AFC China and is recognised for his experience in digital transformation, business growth and operational leadership.

May Wong moves to BMW Financial Services UK
Lourenco will replace May Wong, who has led BMW Group Financial Services Australia and New Zealand through a period of significant growth. During her tenure, the business recorded strong gains in new business volume, customer retention and finance penetration while expanding dealer engagement and strengthening strategic partnerships.
Wong joined BMW Group Financial Services in 2001 and has held several senior executive roles globally, including Chief Financial Officer in Korea and Chief Operating Officer in Australia. She will take up the position of Chief Financial Officer at BMW Financial Services UK from 1 August 2026.

What does BMW Financial Services Australia offer?
BMW Group Financial Services supports customers and retailers across Australia and New Zealand with a range of finance, leasing and insurance products for BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles. The business also provides fleet management and leasing solutions for corporate customers.

BMW Group’s global business in 2025
The leadership transition comes as BMW Group continues to strengthen its global operations. In 2025, the company sold approximately 2.46 million passenger vehicles worldwide and more than 202,500 motorcycles across its BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad brands.
BMW Group Financial Services Australia and New Zealand will formally welcome Mario Lourenco as CEO from 1 August 2026.
